I’m sure this question has been answered a thousand times, however I can’t find it while searching this site.

If someone could point me to previous posts which answer my question, that would be awesome.

Completed an I-130 for my wife and her 2 children (we currently live in Mexico) and have been approved.

Just paid the $88.00 and e-mailed the I-864, Affidavit of Support, now I am waiting to receive notice to send the DS-260, and DS-261, Choice of Address and Agent.

I will need to fly my family to Juarez pretty soon. I guess we do blood tests there, and a few other steps, I am looking to read about the process so we may better prepare ourselves.

What's next?

Thanks in advance!

The DS-261 should be sent ASAP!!! without that the IV bill will not be invoiced and you will not be able to complete the DS-260. You will need the beneficiary identification number to do the DS-261 and DS-260.

you can read Saylin's NVC for montreal beneficiaries and substitute your consulate for it because from what I understand, CDJ and MTL are pretty much identical for online forms and EP.

How long did it take to get your OPTIN email accepted? (seems to vary)

Once the DS-261 is accepted it will take a day or two for the IV bill to be invoiced. Once it shows as paid you can do the DS-260 and send the IV package email. biggrin.png

you have casefile starting with 'MEP' or 'CDJ' ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

That's correct, MEP.

Should I mail all the original docs to:

National Visa Center
Attn: DR
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

Should I do that now, or be waiting for some e-mail from them. When I sent the DS-260 there was a pop up regarding them contacting me in 5-10 days or something like that, and I can't get back into that exact page.

Thanks,

if MEP - no postal mail.

all is electronic.

find Saylin's WIKI guide - though it's for Canadien Visa Chasers - the steps for Electronic Processing are exactly the same for the Mexican Contigent.

When I called the NVC help line, they told me I'd need to scan the docs and e-mail, however they don't know which docs until after they complete the review of the DS-260, so I should just sit and wait until they request the docs-

The USCIS website is remarkably inconsistent.

For example, there was a note that I must translate all the Spanish documents into English and those translations must be sent with the documents. Yesterday over the phone the NVC center (really an employee of Serco Inc and doesn’t work for the US Government) told me that since our appointment will be in the same country as the documents originated, Mexico that the translations are not needed.

Do I trust the website or the employee from Serco Inc?

I can write a book on the inconsistencies between the USCIS websites and forms, it makes it incredibly difficult for someone to decipher all their online mistakes and miscues.

I am thinking about being proactive and sending the scans of the documents today, birth certificates & marriage certificate.

Regards

Whilst you found inconsistency on the USCIS website, note that you are doing doc intake into NVC, the Department of State.

I mention this, cause yer processing a VISA.

USCIS doesn't do jack-all about VISAs.

On the other hand, did you find Saylin's Guide in the WIKI here? If not, why not ?
