A week ago, I was leaving Canada after visiting my fiancee for American Thanksgiving. We had planned that he would come back to the States to visit me for the Christmas holidays. Long story short, he was denied entry to the US. Everything feels so up in the air right now. We are in the middle of the K1 process. This website has been a godsend to me today. It has helped so much to realize that others are going through this right now too :)

It was at the Vancouver airport.

In retrospect, we did everything wrong, from admitting we were engaged to letting them know we were in the K1 process .... so it stopped looking like he was visiting and started looking like he was immigrating now before the process is complete.

It's not that you did something wrong .. it all depends on the duty guard. I cross the boarder frequently (every week to two weeks) at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie, Ontario and am honest each and every time about the fact that I am going to visit my fiance for the weekend. They have asked me questions and I have told them that we have filed for a fiance visa and are awaiting approval. Not once have I been denied.

Yeah, we were unlucky to get the border guard we did. Since I am seeing my fiance TOMORROW, we are finally able to analyze the border guard and laugh about it a little. Ron has 2 theories: the man had just gotten divorced from a Canadian and was a little bitter ..... or he hadn't been laid in years. I personally think he was just a by-the-book, power tripping tightass. Okay, maybe we are not really laughing about it yet :) Still, as long as I get nice sweet Canadian border guards when I head to Montreal tomorrow, it doesn't matter.

I'm glad you don't get denied when you cross. It makes this process so much easier when you can see the man you love!!!

Actually, it ended up not being a denial .... my fiance was "allowed to withdraw his petition to enter".
