This is for Ukraine embassy only. I am totally confused. I got case number July 31, case sent to embassy Aug 1. and is now ready. OK here is my question. When can fiancé sign up for interview and be safe to be actually seen at interview. What is this stuff about a letter. Does embassy send letter to fiancé? Is this letter the scheduled interview letter??

I call embassy today in Kiev. Embassy say to wait to schedule interview, will need letter from NVC first. Then I call NVC and they say they do not send a letter, that it is embassy that sends letter. Then I call DOS and they say no letter needed to schedule interview, - that we are K1 visa and fiancé just call embassy or go on line to schedule interview. Then I read in a thread here on VJ that someone went to interview and did not have letter and was sent back home. Can someone help???? I'm confused as hell!!!!!!!

The NVC will send you a letter with your KEV number. The embassy should send a letter to your fiance saying they received a case and to go to their site to get the forms and other info. As far as I know, neither letter is actually required for the interview.

Mine showed ready on Jul 31. Then status updated on Aug 2, still showing ready.

I called DoS, they said it's in Kiev and on Aug 2 they sent packet 3.

I assume packet 3 is just that letter that tells her to go to their site and get the forms, as there is no real packets 3/4 in Kiev.

In any case, we scheduled interview for Aug 21.

That is how ours worked also, we got letter from NVC with a KEV number, this letter also mentioned that our file was sent to the Embassy. The fiancé (beneficiary) will receive a letter from the embassy with instructions on what is needed at the interview, this list of forms and evidence needed for the interview may take you some time to complete and prepare. That is why you wait until you receive this letter to schedule interview. You don't want to have an appointment in 24 or 48 hours and then receive an instruction letter that will take you 7 days to comply with.
