do you have to schedule a appointment after making a payment??my fiancee thinks she is not ready to go to the appointment yet because she has not gotten all the documents ready yet

Regarding the payment, you must first register with ustraveldocs.com.

You'll need to go through the process of completing your profile on the website. It does a pretty decent job of leading you through the process. As you get towards the end of the process it will ask you to chose a location to have your passport delivered (this can be changed later) and then you get to choose a payment method. You'll want to pay directly at a branch location of a CITIC bank. You need to print the payment voucher and bring it to the bank when you pay. You'll be given a receipt number. This receipt number should automatically get assigned to your ustraveldocs account. The next time you log in, it should let you get to the scheduling screen.

You can wait. I'm not entirely sure about the time limits. But I don't think January would be any problem.

You're not required to be at the interview as the Petitioner, you know that, right? I know some folks like to be there but it's not required.

there is an option to pay online, do i want to do that??i know you guys said to go to a branch but since there is an option to pay online, do i take it??

I don't think it works. I haven't heard of anyone who successfully paid on-line. Even if you have a debit card in China, it doesn't seem to work.

So having read through all this... I still don't understand what P4 is. Is it just the email telling you to register at ustraveldocs and sign up for an interview?

In a Kinder, Gentler World, prior to 13 March 2013,

The Packet 4 was the interview appointment letter issued from GUZ IV.

You guys are getting other stuff that smells like DS-2001, OF-171, and it's now a nomenclature issue.

I dunno.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yep. And those don't exist anymore. People have started to commonly refer to P3 as the letter from the American Consulate General in Guangzhou that requests the DS-230, Photos and a copy of you Passport info page.

And refer to P4 as the email from the Consulate in response to the "P3" stating, "This office is ready to begin final processing..."

The time limit is one year. Your file will be deleted if it has not been active for that period of time .

Has anyone received their passports and visa back yet. My fiance was approved on the 23 of last month, and then a few weeks later they said they needed her son to sign the ds230, ( which we had already given them ) so we sent that back over a week ago and still have not had any change. her info says still with post and her sons says , no new info. what the hell is going on?

My fiancee interviewed on 10/17 and we were of course required to submit the ds230 as part of packet 3, in order to schedule the interview. Now that she has passed the interview, we received an email from the embassy requesting us to send the DS230. I dont understand what the heck is going on because as i already mentioned, that form was a required (along with passport photos and whatever else) before scheduling the interview.

This process sucks.
