NOA2 Letter-is it possible to skip NVC?

We received our approval letter today and it reads "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance...." It also has a "Valid from 8/1/2013 to 11/30/2013" under the notice type.

This may be a ridiculous question, but is it somehow possible that it is going directly from the TSC to the consulate?

is there any listed consulate below the date? if non, your papers went to NVC then sent out to your embassy. You can check also the processing with your embassy to be sure. I also got that standard message but here in Manila, NVC shipped it to the embassy

Mine said the same thing and it is also valid only for three months. The embassy says it should be good for four months. When I called USCIS to query the said no three months only. The case has to go to NVC for tracking then forwarded to the embassy

Also realize that the valid date is just an initial valid date and can be extended by the Embassy. Ours was extended a couple of times. Hopefully, yours will not have to be extended (because your background checks, interview, and processing will be completed within these dates). We appear to be living in the time of a kinder, gentler DOS, so...hope so for you. When I did not hear anything for about 4 weeks after NOA2, I confirmed with NVC that my package had been sent, and I contacted the Embassy via website and received an email back stating the fiancee notification letter and package 3 had just been sent. Luck of the draw.

Despite what an approval notice says and what any operator might say (or has said); no file ever goes directly to an Embassy or Consulate from USCIS. It always goes to the NVC first because it is the NVC that has to assign the case number.

Nope! Not possible. It will go to NVC first.
