This is for Ukraine embassy only. I am totally confused. I got case number July 31, case sent to embassy Aug 1. File still in transent. OK here is my question. When can fiancé sign up for interview and be safe to be actually seen at interview. What is this stuff about a letter. Does embassy send letter to fiancé? Is this letter the scheduled interview letter??

I call embassy today in Kiev. Embassy say to wait to schedule interview, will need letter from NVC first. Then I call NVC and they say they do not send a letter, that it is embassy that sends letter. Then I call DOS and they say no letter needed to schedule interview, - that we are K1 visa and fiancé just call embassy or go on line to schedule interview. Then I read in a thread here on VJ that someone went to interview and did not have letter and was sent back home. Can someone help???? I'm confused as hell!!!!!!!

Your case timeline sounds very similar to ours. Has the embassy received your case yet? You can check it online here:

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx? Choose Immigrant Visa and enter your case number.

Our case was just received at the embassy Aug 5. The status now says READY. My fiancée contacted the embassy to ask if she can schedule the interview and was told that she can schedule it. We still don't know for sure it the embassy will send a letter, but everything I've read says they will.

She is now ready to pay the visa fee and will schedule the interview. My understanding is that interview times are available most days right now.

I will post an update if she receives something from them.

10/01/2012 - met online
10/29/2012 - met in person
12/29/2012 - second visit
01/07/2013 - engaged
01/25/2013 - mailed I-129F packet to Texas

06/21/2013 - petition transferred from VSC to TSC

07/19/2013 - still no NOA2 - tier 2 rep sent email to TSC
07/25/2013 - received email that approval notice has been mailed

07/26/2013 - received email that USCIS shipped case to NVC
07/29/2013 - received hard copy of NOA2 - notice date is 7/25, though the document says it is valid from 7/06 to 11/05

My case sent to Kiev aug 1. Has read in" transent" until today. Now reads "ready". Thanks for info about fiancé calling embassy - that is what I wanted to hear. Ukraine embassy does not send packet 3 - you go their web site and download. Thanks for your help.
