I am going to include some photos in support of the "bonafide marriage" requirement in the I-130. My question is, what is the suggested way to label these photos? More specifically, in pictures with lots of family members, is it okay to describe the photo as "Petitioner and Beneficiary with family members" or do I have to go through each person and write who they are? If the latter is the case, these descriptions can get a bit lengthy

Thanks

Well i dont think its necessary to name every single person, more importantly is beneficiary and petitioner. Actually in my case when i sent my I-130 i also included about 15 pictures of me and my wife some with family members and friends and i didnt write anything on none of the pictures. Sent 11/24/2012 NOA1 11/26/2012 and NOA2 APPROVED 04/15/2013. So it worked out for me, i think if you right really long descriptions they most likely wont even read them, in my opinion leave them blank or just a short note describing the picture. Good luck!!

What I did was, I pasted two 4x6 photographs per page and left room in the bottom to describe the people in the photographs.

I just said "This person XYZ is the brother of ABC, my husband the applicant."

I described the close relatives and friends in the photographs.

And if there were many people, like dancing, I would give a description about the custom (i.e. certain celebrations before the marriage, everyone is happy and dancing because they are excited about upcoming wedding)

I submitted 12 photographs of various parts of the pre-marriage festivities, and the actual marriage itself..

Keep it to 1 or 2 sentences. And I used blue ink for my husband and his side of the family and pink ink for me, and my side of the family.

Good Luck!

Lol come on you guys. That's silliness. A picture is worth a thousand words.

No need to point out to USCIS the neighbor's dog at the reception

Actually, you do not need to send any pics for I-130. You will have an opportunity to show these during the interview.

Actually while you don't "need" them, you really SHOULD have them. It's evidence of a bona fide marriage.

To the OP, I put the photos in a PowerPoint and wrote a 1 sentence caption underneath them. If the pictures are all of the same event, just one caption will do. PowerPoint is a great tool!

Nothing is more superior than marriage certificate for Bonafide marriage evidence atleast for I-130. Hence providing a copy of certificate along I-130 pkt is good enough..the pics are required to be shown at a later stage anyways.

If you read on the USCIS website, http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-130instr.pdf on page two it lists all of the things you need to include to prove that your marriage was done in good faith.

See page two and three where it says "What documents do you need to prove family relationship?" and see the note: "In addition to the required documentation listed above, you should submit one or more of the following types of documentation that may evidence the bona fides of your marriage;" and see letters E through J.

A marriage certificate alone is not enough. You will be RFE'd.

Yes. I did file with just a marriage certificate. Got approved and no RFE. Like I mentioned before, the photos and additional evidence is still required but it will be shown at a later stage (during interview). I have heard cases where the photos and "extra" information was returned back to the petitioner by USCIS since it is not really required at that stage. For peace of mind, if the petitioner wants to send the pics along with I-130, there is no harm in doing so.
