PUBLIC SCHOOL ADVOCATE MATT DAMON ENROLLS KIDS IN PRIVATE SCHOOL

slide_38884_319051_huge.jpg

Actor Matt Damon is a strong supporter of America's public schools. Just two years ago, the star spoke passionately about the importance of public schools at a Washington DC "Save our Schools" rally. In fact, the actor is so impressed with public school teachers that he has demanded they receive a pay raise. That passion and conviction, however, does not apply to Damon's own children, who will notbe enrolled into the Los Angeles public school system.

In an interview with the Guardian published Saturday, Damon revealed that he had just moved to Los Angeles from New York, but that he didn't "have a choice" when it came to putting his four daughters into private schools. The multi-millionaire did say that it was "a major moral dilemma" and then made the bizarre excuse that the public schools aren't "progressive" enough.

This would probably mark the first time anyone has ever complained that America's public schools, especially in Los Angeles, aren't left-wing enough.

The Guardian interview is part of the 42-year-old acto'rs promotional tour for his upcoming sci-fi tentpole "Elysium," which opens Friday.

According to early reviews, "Elysium" is a big-budget action film that condemns a future Los Angeles where the super-rich use their wealth and privilege to separate themselves and their families from the city's poor.

Typical white Left-wing elitist, he isolates his family from the reality he believe so strongly in.

*Check out the video where he despises schools using tests to evaluate a students progress.

i support public schools too. but if i had money to send my son to a private school - i'd do it in a heartbeat.

what's the problem?

The problem is that caring for others has become positively un-American, therefore if you can afford to send your kids to private school, your only possible position towards the kids of others who can't, must be 'Screw them'.

When celebrities speak of these causes, we all are required to show our feigned outrage!

Good for him. Can you imagine the burden put on the public to finance security for his kids if they attended a public school?

Maybe you are not up to speed here?

People want to change the public school system to make it actually work, THIS is what Damon and the NEA fights so hard against.

Meanwhile they place their kids in school models which resemble the suggested change.

The number of Public school teacher which put their kids in private school is stunning as well.

Amy Carter went to public school.

Of course we have never heard from her again but at least Jimmy walked the talk.

and what is this suggested change?

Well of course there are a number of them everything from Vouchers to more magnet schools to mandates placed on schools for performance.

Another is uniforms, male/ female schools, serious discipline in schools with extreme problems.

THe first thing they should do is look at models that work and incorporate these changes where possible.

Many places are moving ahead with some of these ideas, I don't know that LA is.
