The "living wage" in Vermont is $12.15 per hour. That is enough to knock a single person out of welfare benefits. If you raise her wage from the minimum to $12.15 she loses about $1500 per month. Nice guy. Seems like it is YOU who are greedy. If she has a couple children it will only reduce her benefits a similar amount and she breaks even. Again YOU save money. Wendy's loses and Cinammon gets nothing. She also has no zability to ever get further ahead

The point of th eminimum wage os to provide training for young people. It is not meant to support a family and increasing it does not encourage people to improve themselves. Increasing wages by law would be an effective tool in keeping Cinammon from acheiving what you have, though. Is that the idea?

If you take someone that makes $7.50 per hour NOW and raise their pay to $16 per hour just like that...VOILA!...then someone who is making $16 per hour NOW may also want a raise because now THEIR pay is the same as a "burger flipper"???? Right? OMG!!!! Who'da thunk it?

So an LNA, for example, that makes $16 per hour now may want to make $32 per hour to keep her proportionate in skills/rewards, right? About double minimum wage. Then the cost of stuff is going to go up and Cinammon will STILL be making minimum wage. Then her living wwage becomes minimum wage. OMG!!!!!!!! Then the best thing for Cinammon to do would be to go to school and become an LNA and maybe then go on to be an RN or a BSN or some other combination of education and skills...in other words "take control of her life and make it better starting today"
