need help please

as i did the research on the internet about applying for B2 visa(which im trying to do for my parents to come visit me, but i havent filled out one yet and i dont know how its gonna work). it says:

1. fill out the form DS-160 online and print out the code

2.schedule an interview using the code and printout the appointment date confirmation letter

3.gather all the related docs like home owner deed, proof of returning from work, and bank statement.etc.

4.bring all the docs for the interview date

what my questions are

how can we schedule an interview for certain date since so many people would apply too?

how can my mom ask her employer for time off if she doesnt know if she's going to pass the interview or not?

it would be best if any of you can tell me the step by step process of doing this. i really need help please. thanks

Does my mom need to show the CO her time off request letter from her employer, if she doesn't know she's gonna get the visa or not?

The vacation letter would help a lot to show proof that she's got a date she's expected to be back to work by. If her visa is denied then she can just tell her employer that plans have changed and she doesn't need the time off..no harm done.

I'd have your mom ask for the time off, get a letter with an expected return date, show to the consulate. If visa is denied, go back to employer and state that plans have changed and vacation time is no longer required

Ok. Also, I'm planning of writing an invitation letter for her, what else would you guys recommend me to send to her for her interview? , do I need a letter from my employer too? Bank statement? Is assure that I'm responsible for her stay here.

Invitation letters do little to no good. Your parents are the only one responsible for their stay here.

Because it does not show a strong tie to her country that would overcome the presumption of illegal immigration.

The reason for visiting is not important.

The reasons for leaving after a brief visit is the major hurdle. An invitation letter doesn't help with this.

Thank you guys for the response .That make sense, but to me I feel like if I don't send them an invitation letter stating that my parents will have a accommodation and support from me over here, then they might think my parents are gonna end up illegally migrate, and eventually be under the government support. This is just my idea.

It seems that way to most people at first (certainly did to me) but over time I realized what others were saying that when you financially support someone it translates into USCIS language as "this so-called 'tourist' can't afford their vacation based off of the income in their home country. So, what's stopping them from moving in with their family member - who's obviously very close to them - and either finding work there or simply letting their family member support them as an illegal resident".

If your mom pays her own way that tells them she has a reasonable income that she can afford to visit you and because of that decent income she's more likely to return to her job back in her home country.

When my husband and I were engaged and he wanted to visit me for a 5-month period once I sent him an invitation letter and my mom's bank statements as proof of support and I know now that's the one main reason that his B-2 was denied.

I understand you wanting to do everything possible to help get your parents here, but as has been stated, it could do more harm then good. Your parents need to show the immigration officials that they can stand on their own financially while in the US and also have productive lives to return to in Cambodia. Otherwise the risk of them staying in the US illegally goes up.

What about the bank statement ? I don't think my parents would have a lot to show them (7-8 grants), would that be enough?

As much I want this to work out for you as it seems your intentions are meant good, it's going to be difficult for your mom to get the visa based off of her finances.

The only thing I can think of is to have your mom tell the officer at the interview that you'll take care of her room and board and cook for her (typical hospitality in the US showing she need not worry about paying for a hotel and bringing cash for going out to eat every night). Unfortunately, I'd say the most common ground for tourist visa denials is related to the applicant's financial situation.

Is it better to have her tell the officer or better for me to write a letter? I understand its petty much like an invitation letter still.
