Hi!!

I just left the social security office and they said that with my social security I am allowed to work. Do I still need to apply for EAD?

I already married with fiancé and they checked my marriage certificate too.

Anyone has this same information from social security?

Thanks in advance

You apply for the Social Security card but you are still not legal to work without EAD or Green Card.

The SSN card will have the restriction "NOT VALID FOR WORK WITHOUT DHS AUTHORIZATION".

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

You apply for your Employment authorization Card (I-765), and your Advanced parole card (I-131) for free when you file for your adjustment of status (I-485). You will not be able to work in the US without your EAD or Green Card. Your social security card is just one component of authorization to work. When you receive your SSN card in the mail it will have the restriction typed on it. Only valid with employment authorization card (or something like that).

I thought this too. But the guy at office said no. He said that once I receive the card I am able to work. I will probably need to wait the card arrives but the problem is that I will send the AOS package this week.

Most SSA workers have no clue about the immigration process. They are wrong. You cannot work without the SSN AND the EAD. The annotation stating it is not valid for work without the DHS authorizationa(which is the EAD) is printed across the front of the SS card in all caps. You cannot miss it. Also, check out the I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification form for what is needed to work. SSN alone is not enough.
