Need help advice about leaving the country for a couple of months

So here is my situation:-

I entered on a K1 Visa end of December 2012.

I have received my AP & EAD combo card.

I'm still waiting on my Permanent Residency (as I had an RFE).

The issue is, my father has terminal lung cancer and I'm wanting to go back to Australia for 2 months to spend time with him while I still can.

I'm wanting to know the following:

a) How long can I be out of the country without hindering the procedures over here (Will 2 months be ok?)

b) What happens if I receive my notice to go in for interview whilst I'm overseas?

a) There is no set time. Two months should be okay

b) You will need to reschedule the interview. Information on how to do so is on the interview notice (once you receive it).

As you arrived on a K1 it is possible you could receive the GC while you are gone, without interview. If that happens, DO NOT have your husband mail it to you (it's apparently illegal and it's $450 to replace :S). Instead enter on AP like you were going to.

Sorry to hear that about your dad... I was told no longer then 3 months out of the US, so your AP will be fine as thats exactly whats if for.
