Hi everyone, I just apply to a university in Miami, and have been accepted. At this time, I have to wait for them to send my I-20. Here are my questions...

1.- I'm 30 years old, and I own a business along with my father, and my brother who I want to be my sponsors, since I'm not able to fully cover the first year of expenses. Can I show at the embassy our US bank accounts bank statements, or should I just show our country's bank statements?

2.- I have a B1/B2 Visa, and have been to the US several times in the last year... Is there a chance that If they deny my F-1 application, they can revoked my B1/B2 visa?

3.- My older brother has an L-1 Visa, and I plan to stay at his house, If I mention this in my application... Could the office see this as an attempt of staying on the US?

Thanks,

Well, you ask very specific questions to a group of people who know nothing about your case. I'll do my best based on my own student visa experience.

1. Consulates look for YOU being able to sponsor yourself since outside sponsorship can dry up or stop at any time. If asked, how can YOU support yourself? I would show your bank statement and the bank statement of your sponsor. I don't know what you mean about "our country's bank statement'

2. Yes, once a non-immigrant visa is denied, it tends to affect other non-immigrant visas. Expect your tourist visa to go away if your student visa is denied.

3. You will most likely be asked where you will stay in the US, you must tell them the situation. The consulate may see it as a 'tie' to the US but they may also not.

You really want to focus on your ties to Ven. as that is what they are going to look for. Reasons why you MUST return after your student visa is complete

good luck

1. Why do you have US bank accounts? That can help or hinder, depending on the reason. What sort of business do you have and is it related to the courses you want to study? If so, that could help as a tie to home- ie you only want to study to help the business back home when you go back to work there.

2. Yes, revokation is very likely.

3. I doubt it, because sibling petitions take a long time.

What I meant by "our country's bank statements" is that I have more money saved in US banks than in Venezuelan banks. That's why I wonder if it would be a wise idea to show the US Banks Statements along with my Venezuelan Bank Statements.
