Silly question, but are you sure you got given the sealed envelope (not just the x-ray cd)? From what I remember from my interview, I got a pink slip which was then given to the courier company (along with payment) for them to deliver the envelope a couple of days later, and the x-ray CD. I didn't think they gave the envelopes out at the interview.

Call the embassy at once and report it, so they can cancel the visa in the system. They can also give you instructions as how to go about getting a new visa.

I am sorry...

I feel for you, the best course of action is as Gegel said, call the embassy and explain the situation. They should be able to issue you a new visa, but I'm guessing you will also need to get a new passport as well (as it'll be in the envelope). You can arrange for a same day one through the passport service.

Is this a new process? I've never heard of them handing the envelope over at the interview because the final processing usually doesn't begin until after the visa has been approved. To the OP, did they give you your passport back with the visa in it as well?

Wrong packet I think. His interview was only today so the passport will still be at the embassy and the visa won't have been issued yet.

ilovemypants - Do you know what was in the envelope? I thought envelopes weren't given at the interview.

I don't think you've lost the important envelope then. The one that matters has the corner cut off and a white piece of paper attached to it with all of the visa details - it comes inside a larger envelope with your passport. I don't think they can issue that until the visa has been processed and is in your passport. The process might have changed since we went through the Consulate so I would definitely call them, but don't lose hope - there's a chance what you lost wasn't the important envelope (i.e. the one you hand over at POE) and even if it was, they have a system whereby you can get a replacement - at a cost of course. Some people have had luck calling the Consulate directly (020 7499-9000), but it can be pretty hit or miss.

The important envelope comes with the courier, around a week after the interview.

It sounds like you just lost your chest X-ray.

I think it was just your chest X-ray CD. The important stuff comes later.

And I found this from another thread where someone lost their X-ray too:

The only times I have ever read about someone having to hand over their x-ray is when someone is coming in from a country that has many cases of active TB such as the Philippines. There is a medical expert available at disembarkation for some of these flights and they have sometimes requested seeing medical proof of negative TB. These cases are few and far between and I suspect there would have to be some sort of reason or suspicion to make this request. (The one case that comes to mind did involve a young woman who had TB when she entered - she was held and not allowed to enter the US. I don't know what her medical reports had said).

You will not require your x-ray to enter coming from the UK. There will be no reason to suspect you of having active TB since the country your flight originates from does not have active TB rampant in the community. This would be the only reason anyone would request your x-ray. Regardless, the actual printed out hard copy report that states you do not have TB is inside the medical results contained within that brown envelope that you are not to open. Carry that brown envelope with you - not in checked luggage - and you will hand it over to immigration when you activate (I know - that isn't the right word but it explains what happens) the visa in your passport. That is all that is required. The x-rays are your souvenir of your medical smile.gif .

I really don't think you have anything to worry about.
