Certified copy of marriage certificate

Hello all,

I have just gotten married to my husband, and when taking the original marriage certificate back to the court house to get copies, we were given certified copies that basically look a document typed in Microsoft Word with the clerk's signature at the bottom and the official court seal embossed next to it. I have attached it with personal details blanked out for your reference.

Do we need the original certificate that we gave to the court house? Or will the certified abstract from the court house be enough when NVC and other officials ask for the original certificate?

I'm not sure we can get the original certificate back as it is for the court's records only.

Looking at the attachment you should be just fine. This is what DOS website says

"Original Document Requirements

You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States must submit to the NVC original documents issued by an appropriate authority, or certified copies of those documents listed in this section."

That's a relief. I also don't have my original birth certificate because my parents opted not to purchase the long form. All I have are certified copies that I ordered via the government website last year.

I also take it that when I go for the interview in London, taking the certified copies instead of the originals will also be okay?

Everything will be sent to London from the NVC who will collected your originals or certified copies with the IV packet intake.
