It's unfortunate that the act of a few idiots is bad for "the black population"..

There are morons of every race, but it seems that in this country, only blacks are judged as a whole by the actions of a few.

I don't remember the last time one idiot ended up being "bad for the white population" in this country.

It's a double standard that shouldn't exist, but does.

I can't stand it, but it's one of the things we have to deal with. What's worse is that by some folks here, it's nothing that can't be overcome with a little hard work. If that was the case, we wouldn't have racism.

I read this story last night. 14 is too young to die but given that the kid was fairly obviously in the act of trying to shoot someone his aunt gets little sympathy from me. No comparison to Travon whatsoever.

If the cops weren't so scared of us, we wouldn't have cops trying to unload whole clips into 60-something year old people, but when they are faced with a drugged out 19 year old kid who actually gets his hands on a police service gun and fires a shot, they don't try to shoot him.

Its easy to post on the board about they should had shoot at foot or arm, when the officers are in the hostile area that would not be the first thought for them.

Read my post in regards to Karee about the kid who fought 9 cops. That's about as hostile as it gets and not one drew a single gun.

I think the shooting was justififed in this case, but too many cases cops kill black men when there is no weapon, or even the perceived notion of aggression.

Shoot to wound in that situation.......= ZERO knowledge of firearms.or firearm police training. .... Maybe across the pond this is common but here .....No police officer will take a bullet trying to wound anyone.

During my school days, I have worked for financial aid dept and I never remember more aide was given to non black kids.

Marvin – look at international students / immigrants… they come from various countries with limited family in US, limitation in funding.. etc and they still make it, so why do you think black kids cannot?

Someone in another thread was pointing out how black immigrants seem to do pretty well when they come here. Maybe it's because they weren't raised to blame racism for all of your problems.

That might be true but during my days in financial aid office I had never seen a case that was turned down based on race.

Marvin always claims the blacks are discriminated based on the name and color of the skin but maybe the problem is not with color of the skin but the environment in which black kids grow up.

The environment cannot be fixed by outsiders but the community itself has to fix it.
