Explosive O'Reilly Segment: President Obama & the Race Problem

Sure I guess there is a little blame (from my POV) but I am just tired of this national struggle which now seems natural.

I go about my life and just avoid overly black situations....... as do many Blacks I might add.

I'm not out to build the first multi-racial society, it's not a goal or even interest of mine.

It has always been my personality to treat people with respect and all that, I actually get along quite well with Blacks one to one but this whole integration thing should have got off the ground by now as much effort as has been put into it.

When I was like 18, I thought this stuff was over, I went to a school with maybe a third minority student body, everyone there had every opportunity I had perhaps more (with Affirmative action), and now you are telling me their kids and soon grandkids are still disadvantaged?

If they are it is at their own hand.

The struggle has always been there. Like I said before, there has never been a time in the US where we weren't held down. From over 400 years of slavery, to the years of segregation and Jim Crow, to now. You think all of that could be washed away after a few years? You don't have an interest because you don't have to deal with the weight of being a black man.

Affirmative Action doesn't help us as much as you would like to think. The numbers are so small there isn't even a study for it. But you can see how many employers won't employ blacks over whites on several websites, even ones who are squeaky clean lose to white felons. Something is wrong with that.

You want to see the other side? There are tons of stories of successful black men and women who go through racial stereotyping even now,and they don't even act the part. Some folks can't see past your skin color.

This one kills me, an Academy Award winning actor goes through this. Plus he's 51 years old and makes more than enough money.

We saw no asians while we were there, but a whole lot of russians. Just like HK is part of the UK, but more chinese there than British.

Was part. Now a Special Administrative region under China until China regains full control in 2047.

Wont matter. We'll face the apocalypse long before that. I'm preparing now.

Forest Whitaker always looks suspicious in a jimmy Savile kind of way, but whatever. Was he wearing a hoodie at the time?

What on earth would someone try to shoplift from a deli? A bagel?

Wasn't Winona Ryder treated similarly and actually found to be shoplifting? It can be a mental illness and nothing to do with money.

I would suggest to you that the largest weight the black man has to carry is one that he places on his own back.

In fact we shouldn't even use terms like "Black man" because Blacks from other parts of the world.... which incidently suffered more than the American negro seem to progress at much greater rates than do our own Black citizens.

Why do you think someone might be less inclined to hire a Black person to work in his store or rent his apartment?

You believe it is simply due to the color of ones skin and not the baggage or blessing that can come with it?

If Blacks had a reputation as honest hard workers, they would be SOUGHT after as other minorities are. They then gain experience and begin to build a future.

My friend, Blacks are moving backwards...... except for the few who seek higher education, in fact a Black couple, each holding a degree earns more than a similar white couple. But for the bulk of Blacks they are regressing in many ways.

We are all in this boat together, the failure of one segment effects all, so I wish I saw a light or path...... but I think we are turning a dangerous corner where people of good-will are (like me) saying screw it, what more than we do.

Nope, they didn't profile her. She was caught on security tapes.:

Oscar-nominated actress Winona Ryder, 30, was arrested at the Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills Wednesday after store clerks said they saw her place an estimated $4,760 worth of clothes and accessories into her bag with the security tags ripped off, Reuters reported. Ryder, who has appeared in more than two dozen films including 1999's "Girl, Interrupted" and 1994's "Reality Bites," is being charged with grand theft. In addition, Ryder is facing a charge of illegal possession of prescription drugs, since police said they found a small number of prescription pills on her. Ryder's attorney, Mark Geragos, said the pills were painkillers prescribed for the actress, and that she was "not under the influence" during the incident, Reuters reported. She was released on $20,000 bail. Police said the actress, who was nominated Oscars for 1994's "Little Women" and 1993's "The Age of Innocence," was observed on video tearing the security tags off clothes, a handbag and hair accessories and placing the goods in a bag with items she had previously purchased. "It will become clear that there was no theft here," Geragos said at a press conference. "Ms. Ryder had no intent of depriving anybody of any property."
Forest Whitaker walked in and before leaving was stopped and frisked, there was no evidence of him trying to take anything:
According to his publicist Jennifer Plante, the Oscar winner was approached by an employee who accused him of theft as he was walking out of the store. The employee then prevented him from leaving and proceeded to frisk him down in front of other customers.

I don't know if this is true. The Chinese are quite racist towards blacks. Blacks will always have a hard time making it there.

I'd guess it's not only blacks.

It isn't. But that part seemed to pertain to this conversation. They don't seem to mind whites as much. Interracial dating of whites (white boy/Chinese girl) is sometimes looked down on by older generations. But so much of their culture glorifies "white beauty" its hard to imagine them looking down on white people.

dispatch from my high horse to yours, danno..the light/path is beckoning you to reasses exactly what people of good will (such as yourself) have actually done( outside of pointing your finger at 'one segment') to excuse your apathetic 'screw it'.

Hey Danno, who built this nation? Who was in the fields picking cotton? Who raised children, took care of the homes, did all of the heavy lifting?

We've always been strong. What's worse is it didn't matter what we did, it's always been us against the world. When does that end? How much do we have to change to get equal footing?

I don't know that you built the Nation. You sure helped, but then lots of people did. You know the Chinese, American Indians, Irish all were everything but slave labor. The Chinese in the west, that was brutal man.
