Yeah, and when you have multiple 24 hour news stations...I mean what is that? That is simply "news for entertainment" as well as people who stare at "the Weather Channel" 24/7...when no hurricane is coming!

One may think "well that's better for the nations IQ level than Dancing with the Stars" but I am not sure about that.

I was always a bit suprised that someone like Rush Limbaugh can bloviate for 3 hours every day, 5 days per week for 25 years and still hasn't said everything there is to say...but he rakes in the cash and he will be on as many radio stations as he likes for as long as he wants to. Now I do not listen to him much either, 'cause I'm a liberal, but just the fact that it goes on and on...yeah he is an entertainer, so is O'Reilly and Hannity.

Nothing wrong with being an entertainer, or even of entertaining with one view or another of the news. But they often enough make no sense...a campaign against the safetst state in country because they did not pass a law for "child safety"... that I give them all the same consideration I give DWTS.

I used to watch CNN Headline News hour after hour when I was younger. It was pretty much the same thing every thirty minutes over and over. They'd cycle out the anchors every few hours, but the stories pretty much stayed the same. I guess my mind was wrecked by CNN instead of MTV.

I don't disagree with you just because. protest6wz.gif

There are certain elements that minorities have to deal with you will never see/understand because you don't deal with it. We, as black people are treated like this no matter where we go. Did you know that even in Africa, they don't like us? It's like we chose to come here and be this way. There was an article from a black woman who went there to learn more about her culture. She was a fish out of water, since she didn't speak the language, they rolled their eyes at her and said, oh you're black. She said it was like they didn't even want to deal with her.

Everyone in America has to deal with this when they return to the motherland. This is not something for black people to complain about.

I could go on and on about how Thailand only gives rights to Thais, and foreigners get treated like second class citizens in every facet of life there, but I wont.

Actually O'Reilly (who I don't generally agree with) made this point. I'm not getting that point from the second video.

The point of the second video was rather elementary-

The breakdown and killing will continue until the Black community and leadership feel all is fair and just in this country.

It is this never ending deadlock which caused me to give up hope years ago.

When you look around the country, indeed around the world you see the same story, even in areas which never knew slavery and from areas ... cities, countries which pioneered the ending slavery you see the same thing.

Right now, at this moment it is as good as it gets folks. (which historically speaking.... ain't bad)

The unreasonable expectation that these issues of race and diverse cultures are ever going to exist in a color and culture blind society are "unreasonable expectations" and only set ourselves up for failure.

Sadly, I think there's truth in that.

I've lived in Europe for 3 years, I never heard a single white person complain about how they were treated. I've had friends that have been to Ireland, UK, several other Anglo-saxton countries, and it's a blast for them. I've had africans talk to me in their language, when I say, I'm American the eye rolls kill me. Like it's my fault I don't speak it.

Uh, no. The language thing is with everyone. Are you gonna sit here and tell me Europeans don't treat American's differently? I've heard Frenchies go on and on about how much of a ####### we are do expecting them to speak English. Same with Italians.

My wife gets a similar treatment in Hong Kong even though she speaks the language. But apparently its isn't perfect and I'm next to her. Some people just waved us off. I thought about starting some ####### with some of those people but then I thought it would just make me more American.

God no. All the white soldiers would talk about it going to the bars and the Europeans would buy them alcohol all night. Being in Germany was one of the best assigments you could get. The only issues I had there was getting into certain clubs. My girl at the time would have to fight to get me in. But the white guys? No problem.

I've lived in most of the countries I talk about. Ill say this much, it more about the attitude. I speak a little bit of everything, this helps a lot. The one thing I notice most Americans EXPECT them to speak it in their own country. This is something I never do, if I can't speak it, I ask. If they can't, I will find a way to convey what I want without insulting them.

You did not live in the FSU my friend.

I did construction in the FSU, Ukraine. Challenge number 1. Keep the work crews from killing each other! Learn which nationalities (all from the same former country) cannot be put working together. They identify not only citizenship, but nationality. You can honestly say you lived in Europe and did not notice millions of white people killing each other and destroying their own country in what was Yugoslavia? Are you kidding me? Did you live in isolation on a US military base?

Try working with Russians, Ukrainians (that's the easy part) Belarusians (getting a little harder now) Moldovans (OMG) Tajiks, Uzbeks (HOLY mother of GOD!) Armenians...NO! NOT THAT! Georgians...SAVE ME PLEASE! Gypsies...who the heck knows what nationality that is but everyone hates them! they are all WHITE. They ALL b*tch about how the others treat them. They all hate Jews. Odessa has a lot of Jews. They are white also.

The US has nothing on Europe for racial/ethnic hatred, holy ####### they started TWO, not one, TWO World Wide Wars based on racial hatred and superiority or certain "races" but they were ALL white! You were IN Europe to prevent the European white folk from decimating each other...again! And you didn't notice?

One of my foreman had been using the "n" word to describe black people, we had some blacks also, actually from Africa...like recently from Africa. I told him that was offensive and not to say that around me. So a few days later he reported that he was having problems with two crews and I asked why. "Because the Tajiks will not work with 'African-Ukrainians' " laughing.gif

It is Ukraine. Good luck. Don't get sick.

I spent more time in downtown Wurzburg than most Americans stationed with me since I was dating a German woman for the most of my time there. Never saw any type of discord towards whites at all. I've been to Vladivostok for a port visit, the liberty brief they gave us specifically told us if you're black or asian, you need to be in groups of 3 to 5 in order to secure your safety.

The only place I would say I had to tread lightly in regards to work was Belgium. Working for NATO, we had all the Allied countries in the same building. In my office alone it was one US colonel, one Italian, one German, one British, one Turkish officer under him. I was told don't crack any jokes about any nationality, I could start an international incident.

The EU chose English as their official language. Alla was working as an interpreter in Russia and Ukraine for EU clients and speaking English for all of them. Italians, French, Germans, Dutch...they all came to Russia and Ukraine to hawk their wares and sought out an interpreter that spoke English/Russian.

This is not to discount some ignorant people (OMG they are everywhere!) but the fact is that English is the chosen and accepted trade language in Europe. And most of the world. It is also the official language of aviation.

That said, an adult in today's wolrd ought to be able to speak at least two languages fluently, English should be one of them.

French people are generally rude and if I never go to France again it will be too soon. Dutch, Czechs, Swiss are all very nice people, if they do not like Americans I never saw it. Germans have always been nice. Once you get past the sour-pus in the FSU the people are probably the most friendly and accomodating of all, but don't expect them to say "Hi!!!!!!!!!! How are you!!!!!!!!!!!??????" They will offer to let you go ahead of them in line at the theatre, but they don't care "how are you?" They will also give you their last bit of food if you are a guest.

Even though Vladivostock is IN Asia. The Russians get drunk (who knew) and they get abusive and nothing like a black guy or an Asian to take it out on. Let that happen in the European part of the FSU and they will just as gleefully jump a Tajik or Moldovan. The FSU has a an entire "pecking order" with Russians at the top, Moscovites at the top of the top, followed closely by Ukrainians, not so closely by Belarusians and the rest being pretty well at the bottom. The Baltic states don't play.

Etnic hatred in Europe has almost nothing to do with "race" as we would declare it. Heck, Hitler said the "Aryans" were the "master race" and killed 22 million slavs because they were "less than human" They are ALL white, caucasions! Heck the Causcasus Mountains are in the FSU! How can you get more caucasion?

We saw no asians while we were there, but a whole lot of russians. Just like HK is part of the UK, but more chinese there than British.

Vladivostock was built by Russians for Russians, There was really nothing there before. It is like eastern Ukraine, it was built and settled by Russians and they are still the dominant nationality and language there.

And don't forget there is no love lost between the Russians and Japanese or Chinese for that matter. Even the North Koreans were never anything more than a nuisance for Russia.

Even Stalin said he had much less to fear from his enemies than he did from his friends! laughing.gif

Sure I guess there is a little blame (from my POV) but I am just tired of this national struggle which now seems natural.

I go about my life and just avoid overly black situations....... as do many Blacks I might add.

I'm not out to build the first multi-racial society, it's not a goal or even interest of mine.

It has always been my personality to treat people with respect and all that, I actually get along quite well with Blacks one to one but this whole integration thing should have got off the ground by now as much effort as has been put into it.

When I was like 18, I thought this stuff was over, I went to a school with maybe a third minority student body, everyone there had every opportunity I had perhaps more (with Affirmative action), and now you are telling me their kids and soon grandkids are still disadvantaged?

If they are it is at their own hand.
