Hey me and my boyfriend found out online that we got approved.
a couple days later I received in the mail from the department of homeland security a "notice of action"
it says i-797 notice of action
im just wondering is this the NOA2 or am I waiting for something else to come with some instructions for us?
This thing I got doesn't really have any instructions for us it just says we are approved and stuff.

I am not sure if you got the noa1 or noa2 but don't expect any instructions. It is up to you read and learn the next steps here. I would advise to fill in your timeline and then go to whatever section of the forum is appropriate for you and your fiancees country and find out the next steps to take. Each embassy is different and have different rules and steps.

If it is NOA2 then the row 4th on the right of the petitioner's address will have something like this " Notice Type: Approval Notice valid from **-**-2013 to **-**-2013.

Also they would say something in the note that the above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate.

you received the NOA1. you still have a long road ahead for the NOA2!

Thats my feeling as well. The Mailing does not go to the Beneficiary and to the Petitioner. First time seeing a Notice of Action. LOL Otherwise, he/she would know and be more knowledgable.

This is useful - It does say that on the paper. So it's the NOA2 then?

He / she would be more knowledgeable? Would you guys settle down and stop being so arseholish? She / we have been approved, as we have checked our status online. It says "post decision activity - On July 30th, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we approved this I129f petition for Fiance. Please follow any instructions on the notice." and now we received this thing in the mail. Our K-1 is on its way to the NVC, and then to the vancouver consulate. We filed like, at the end of march 2013. We were just wondering what this thing is, because we expected to get an NOA2.

In the future I'd advise you to read her first post, and be marignally less condescending.
