I honestly don't know who Peter Capaldi is. But, I'm not British so that makes sense I guess. Tom Baker was my first Doctor...but Matt Smith has been my favourite. He just fit the character so perfectly. My daughter's first doctor was Christopher Eccelston, and her favourite is David Tennant. My brother and I used to watch Doctor Who every week night growing up on our local PBS station at 7pm...and then it was bedtime.

I'm not looking forward to Matt leaving, but I will definitely give Peter a chance.

Never received packet 3 although it was mailed to us on May 29th

07/17/2013-Sent off packet 3 after finally getting ALL our documents together

08/19/2013-Medical scheduled (there were earlier appointments but unfortunately, we couldn't get there for them due to hubby's work)

09/24/2013-Interview APPROVED

11/01/2013-POE BOSTON

01/13/2014-10 Year green card received

03/09/2019- Sent I-130 to Chicago lock box for step-son

03/20/2019- NOA 1

I remember one time, negotiating with my local PBS station.

Was in the mid-90s, and my entire posit was to fund the broadcast on Tom Baker's episodes for a year. I got the quotes from BBC, and doubled it, make a proposal to my local station, telling them I'd fund the whole thing for a year if they broadcast 3 times during the week and 3 to 5 hours on the weekends.

Bollocks - they just weren't interested. Sucked at the time, cause that was the station I watched growing up.

ya, that's now, not then, in 93.

However - BBC America has been spewing Dr. Who quite a lot this year, as it's the 50th Anniversary. I got to watch stuff I've never, ever seen. It was amazing.

It's spewing more, also. Got Cable TV with On Demand? There's a Dr. Who Bacchanalia buried in there.

I can't wait until he starts. Mostly because I can't think of him as anything other than Malcolm Tucker, and I'm hoping (knowing) his performance will erase that problem for me. But until that point, I'm just going to be imagining the Doctor screaming profanities at Daleks (there are some pretty hilarious YouTube videos already that are a mash-up between Doctor Who and The Thick Of It that perfectly illustrate this).

I like the idea of Capaldi playing The Doctor.

He looks right for the part and I can already imagine him in the role. I said to my wife that I was hoping it might have been a 'big star'.

There seems to be a lot of disappointment amongst Whovians, but I think Moffat will keep doing what he's been doing and I think Capaldi is going to take the character in a new direction - a little more traditional, but maybe darker than we've seen recently. Maybe with John Hurt's Doctor and a potential focus on the Time Wars, we will see the same darkness hinted at from Eccleston's Doctor?
