Recently I've seen some questions come up regarding this issue. The most recent being this one:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/445915-form-i-129f-question/#entry6420389

I think there are unique challenges with same sex marriage that don't apply to traditional marriage. The one that seems to come up alot is where you can get married. Only certain countries and certain states allow it, so it might be good to have a place where these questions can be asked and answered.

It has been discussed before, and the point of DOMA being dropped was so that everyone was equal. Why make a seperate forum for it when people are supposed to be equal? Suddenly that means you're not equal, you're special.

I do not think they need a separate forum. They file all the same forms as hetero couples. They are only required to marry in a country or state that allows SSM due to country/state laws. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=2543215c310af310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=2543215c310af310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

Either you didn't read my post, or read it and chose to ignore it. Same sex marriage isn't allowed in all countries, or in all states. If the couple can't get married in the country the reside in, or the potential beneficiary can't get a tourist visa to marry in the U.S., then the marriage visa wont fly since they can't get married. That leaves the fiance visa. You can't go the DCF route if you're not married. Also, you need some kind of domicile in the U.S. to file from the U.S. If you don't live here in the U.S. that's another challenge. So while same sex couples are equal in the eyes of the federal govt., it is not the case in many states or other countries.

Yeah I understand all of that. There was a FAQ put out by the USCIS as per Jay-Kay's post.

If a person wishes to use a fiance visa and that means they need to establish domicile in the USA, then how is that different than any other hetero couple? It's not the USA's fault that other countries are backwards and do not allow SSM. While I would like to see all states finally get off their butts and use their brains and allow it as well, it's happening faster than it was before DOMA fell. They have the option to marry anywhere in the US, like any other K1 couple. Or they can go to a country that allows SSM and get married; people have been coming to Canada to do that for a long time. A person still needs to adhere to the rules as set up in front of them. Backwards as they are. First cousins have limitations on where they can be married AND where they can live after marriage but they do not have their own special forum?

While I understand there are issues that are different from hetero couples then a good wiki guide should be made to help them vs a "special forum" which only serves to segregate.

We're all the same, my vote is for no segregation.

Segregation? ####### are you talking about? Is it segregation to have MENA forum? Is it segregation to have a Military Immigration forum? Like it or not, there are still challenges with same sex marriage that don't exist for traditional marriage. When all countries and all states accept same sex marriage, then yes it will be exactly the same. That hasn't happened yet.

Jesus, I suggested a way to help people in this situation out so that they could post questions and get replies that are specific to their unique challenges, and all of the sudden it gets framed as some kind of discrimination. This place can be amazing sometimes.

All that you say above is true to any couple, not only to same sex couples. There is no reason for a separate forum to discuss matters that are relevant to all couples, IMHO.

That is also true to any other couples. The requirements, ages, and other parameters vary from one state to another.

I think your heart is in the right place but in the end, the sooner we all realize there has never been such thing as 'traditional' marriage, the better off we are. Marriage has always been something very specific to each couple and traditional is something any marriage is not.

What? Same sex couples can get married in any state or country the same as traditional marriages? News to me. There's only 14 countries that allow same sex marriage.
