Hello canadians,

I am a K1 visa holder waiting for my AOS and my canadian passport is expiring in 2 months. How long should a passport be valid for when being interviewed for AOS or it does not matter ? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would suggest getting a new passport since you might not even have your interview within the next 2 months and it might take a while to get all the processing done and a new passport in hand in time to get your interview...

Also, since I need to send my passport application for renewal to Canada along with my current passport with my K1 visa and the I-94 stapled to it, is it okay to send, I am a bit concerned......will I get my old passport back with the visa stamp etc. Thanks

I am not K1, but my passport was expired at the time of my interview. I didn't get the I-551 stamp, but it didn't matter to me.

I was in the process of renewing my passport with the Russian Embassy, but they only needed a copy of every page of my passport.

I brought my expired passport with me to the interview. The officer looked at it, took the I-94 and that was it.

Good luck!
