KKK neighborhood watch program

Residents in Springfield, Mo., were in for a surprise Sunday morning when a flier showed up on their doorsteps announcing an effort by the KKK to try and recruit neighborhood patrolmen.

Steven Burchett was shocked to find the flier when he was getting his morning paper.

“[i’ve] never had any trouble,” he told KY3 News. “I found the note in the front yard. And it was from the Klan. I was furious.”

The notice is from the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and features a hooded Klansman pointing forward, reminiscent of Uncle Sam’s “We Want You” posters. The flier reads, “Neighborhood Watch: You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake!”

The ad gives a website address and phone number to their 24-hour “Klanline.”

“That just tells you what a coward they are. A simple knock at the door, I can say I am not interested, thank you very much and go on. But instead they have to come through in the middle of the night and drop a rock in the front yard,” Mr. Burchett added.

Klan representative Frank Ancona told KY3 that his group has a nationwide flier campaign that aims to recruit members for Klan-sponsored neighborhood watch groups.

Mr. Ancona said the programs are not about race, claiming that if members saw a white person “up to no good” they would alert police just as well.

But residents are saying thanks, but no thanks.

“I am upset over this. I have no use for them people. None whatsoever,” Mr. Burchett added. “You know this is 2013.”

Thats funny, the Nation of Islam is fairly well received in the Black community, no one rejects their efforts at making the community a better, safer place.

It was posted right after the acquittal. I remember because this place is about 2 hours from STL. I also said I wish they would come to my town.

BUt the Klan of the old days (which you reference) were one in the same with elements of the Democrat party..... and they seem to embrace them so former lynchings can't be all that troubling.

IN addition, the Klan you speak of is long gone, this no doubt is some new group which shares a similar name and one would presume at least some of their beliefs but as there are many such groups with little connection and since lynchings (both black and white) had petered out by what the 1930's? What relevance does it have with today?

It's not likely lynchings are on these people play-list.

My earlier comments were simply to demonstrate the how much more offended whites are at groups which divide us by race so sharply.

Your grasp of context is amazing. The reason blacks embrace the Democrat party is due to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy Once that happened, blacks back then went to the least racist party.

The Klan will always be the Klan. If you think that it's not the same group, why don't you join them? Or better yet, riddle me this, what political party do you think they follow now? Do you think they are Democrats, or are they in that party that you try to champion so much?

Robert Byrd and Strom Thurmond are dead, so I guess you missed the news about them.

That you might be able to recognize a distinction of difference between the Black panther party and the NEW black panther party does not mean you either champion them, agree with them or wish to join them.

Here lets take a look at the fading instances of Lynchings... both white and Black.

You might note that whites were lynched at about the same rates as blacks from the turn of the century on.

Some years more whites were lunched...

which by the way, where are all the photos of whites having been lynched?

It seems every time the subject and imagery is shown it is always ........and only a Black on display.
