In our case, when the Uscis notified us about the case being forwarded to NVC, I waited two weeks and contacted the embassy, they said the didn't have anything yet. Then, two weeks later I think we contacted the embassy again and the next day the sent us the email with package 3/4 to continue with the interview stage.

Umm, my status is still not changing on the uscis website so i think they don't change the status (my opinion).

But don't worry, if we have the approval then it means people are handling our case :)

When USCIS actually sends your case to the NVC there should be a message posted on the USCIS website similar to this "we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing".

So the answer is yes, there should be something at least on the site that indicates this. You may or may not get an email about it if you've signed up to receive email notifications from them.
