Because I'm one of the few if not only black regular poster in this forum. I want to make sure people know we are not animals. I can't speak for everyone but I can speak for me. And if I can dispute it or shed some light in an otherwise dark room, I will do that.

Give them jobs? How about they go out and get jobs? The USSR used to "give" people jobs. They had a 0% unemployment rate. Maybe we should institute their economic policies? It did have zero unemployment after all, so it must be good.

And -0- homelessness. Everyone had a job, everyone had a home. They chose Alla's job for her in 8th grade, told her what she would do and educated her from that point on for that job. When she got married her and her husband were given an apartment. Later she got a bigger apartment because she had two kids. When the USSR ended she got TITLE to the apartment, we still own it.

Bad news? She did n't get to choose her job or her home and her home was like everyone else. Everything is kind of like the same ghetto and everyone made about the same amount of money. Still do to some extent. The majority of people are still in low paying jobs with an average annual income of $5000 or less.

When she came here she had this great education but it had "holes". No college level math or science for example. She was trained to be a language teacher and had no need for that. So she had to fill out those holse here in order to get her MA here.

However you do not even want to imagine that there is or was no racial hatred or ethnic hatred. The US has got nothing on the former USSR for those categories.

Be that as it may...

We need to take action against employers that exploit illegals for profit and steal jobs from legal immigrants and citizens

Educate young people

stop penalizing people on welfare for trying to make money and get ahead

If we do that then in 30 years things may be entirely different. If they are not, we did nothing wrong for trying

and part of the problem is an attitude that flipping burgers or bagging groceries is not acceptable work. You are not going to enter the work force in a high paying job unless you have a hard skill or a degree that is high demand.

You have to enter the work force and you have to have soft skills. Soft Skills--Show up on time, look presentable, have a good attitude, work hard. You do these things and you will advance I don't care what color you are.

I was in management for almost 30 years and it insults me when people say , it is hard for blacks to hired and promoted. We always were hungry to get good people and when we did they advanced rapidly. The problem is, at least in my area, is that so many young black men have so little guidance in their life they are almost unemployable.

Depends on where you are and what you have to deal with. I've been working since I was 15 years old. I've flipped burgers, washed dishes, cut grass, did data processing work, construction, worked at the mall. And this was all before I joined the service. If it was that easy as you put it, more blacks would be in charge of things 30 years ago. This decline hasn't been here the whole time. Even now with doctors and lawyers that are black, there are complaints of not advancing but having stellar records.

But just a year ago, there was a huge controversy that blacks and latinos were denied entry into the firehouse. The reason? The test was racist. But here's the kicker, the blacks and latinos who aced the test, were told they couldn't be hired because they blew a test out of the water that was specifically designed to keep them out.

We have to try and fix a system that's been against us since before day one. So it's an insult when folks just say show up and do your job well, you'll go far. Think about it, 6 years ago the prospect of a black president was too silly to entertain.

My kids did. I don't give a rat's popah if you listen or not. My kids are not in a country that speaks the their native language, they had a little obstacle to overcome also. Amazing what FAMILIES can do. If that is bragging...I'm down for it. Maybe we need more people focused on their kids.

I present my ideas agressively because I think they are right. I am not timid about being right and their is no virtue in being timid about such things.

In the end, I apply my ideas to my family because I can, I do not need to wait for the government to do it, I can just do it myself. Of course, so can any other family, white or black. It is a choice. I am pro choice. I can prsent my ideas and give examples of how they work with young men that has a great disadvantage themselves...language...and you can say "he may have something there"

Or you can make personal insults, snide remarks, and irrelevent conclusions. It makes no difference to my kids so I do not care. My opinons are based on results.

What did you do for your children? My four boys are now sucessful adults, two have their own families and homes. What was your recipe for success with your children?

But there is a distinction. If a white catholic goes on a killing spree, the religion is never brought into question. They only want to know if it's Islam. We will never know what Adam Lanza or the rest of those killers religion was. We know what the boston bomber is.

You tend to measure the world by your own stick. Even you must see how short sighted this is. (Not a ####### ref btw)

You act like everyone could do as well as you if they just followed your road map. C'mon man, I agree there is something to be said about personal respect and values instilled by ones parents. And I also agree, that many people don't want to do the hard work necessary to succeed in life by your own means. But you seem to imply that life is black and white in the sense that there are two types of people in this world. Those that want to succeed on their own and those that want everything given to them. Nothing is ever this simple. There are always people at each side of the spectrum but like in all things, there are always people in the middle for whatever reason.
