What do sworn statements of family and friends look like?

Hey i think the question says it all. What needs to be included word wise in those statements? Is it enough when they are dated and signed? Maybe somebody has an example.

We got our noa2 yesterday and I'm planning on loading the papers that I need to send to the frankfurt embassy with evidence of our relationship. I didn't do that with our petition and died a thousand deaths, reading what other people sent.

So any advice on the statements is appreciated :)

if you go to example forms look for

doc.gifSworn Affidavit from Friends *.doc (MS Word)

That is where you will find it.

You can make changes to fit what you need.

Let me know and i will see if I can scan what I did or used. but it is all up to you...

Good luck.

I'm on my way down to Peru for my fiance's interview and we're bringing a few of these with us. I've seen it done different ways. Some people do it very formal and straight forward, but we went the personal route. We asked both of our Moms and also friends who have spent time with us together to write letters basically being a "witness" to the relationship was how I explained it to them. It would be easy to give someone a form letter and have them sign and date it saying they swear that two people are a couple, i think the personal (and maybe more emotional) route says a lot more... the one my best friend and maid of honor wrote for us had me in tears. I would tell people though to keep them short and to the point because the consulate probably won't take the time to read a lot of long letters... make sure they're notarized though!

the cost of notarization depends where you are,

for notarial services in the Nairobi

embassy it costs 50 dollars,

you dont have to go to the embassy for notarization though, you can seek attorneys services,or anywhere that notary services are done!

Thank you guys! I wasn't sure if its enough when they are signed but notarize them seems like a good idea. How much will that cost tho??

My local public library notarizes my documents for free.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Such statements carry little to zero weight to begin with. If you choose to include them, they do not need to be notarized.

Quite honestly, I doubt you will need sworn statements from family and friends for Frankfurt if you do not have any red flags. I did not include any statements and got approved without hassle. I only had a couple of e-mails/Facebook posts, telephone logs, photos, and copies of letters, but the consular officer did not even look at any of my evidence - he just asked a couple of questions, and then told me I was approved.
