Hooray!! we've got an interview date, and just luckily I will be over visiting for it! Soooo.....my dad is cosponsoring my fiance, which is all fine, except that he is married and has joint tax returns with my mother. I cannot seem to figure out whther she has to fill out a 134 or if she needs to sign somewhere on his or what the hell to do.

You know I would die if I don't have it all right, so surely someone has dealt with this and can help??

Hi, no, I don't think she has to sign anything unless you're using her assets to make the poverty line, but maybe someone else has had more experience with this. I used my fatherinlaw as a co-sponsor and my motherinlaw just appeared on his tax returns as a dependent, but that was it.

Good luck with eveyrything!

My understanding is that the co-sponsor fills out the I-134 and signs it. Their spouse does nothing. The married-filing-jointly tax transcripts are evidence for the co-sponsor only. (This is what we're doing.)

so what you think you just explained to me is that if my mother's income is not being used, regardless of whether its reported on the same tax return, she does not have to sign, correct? thanks so much for all of your help, the pooled resources of this sight are priceless
