CANADA - USA INCOME TAXES....$$$$

Would it cancel your PR status if you file both US and Canadian taxes each year (main reason being to keep medical in Canada) as we live on a border town and medical is much cheaper in Canada obviously. The taxes in Canada would be only as the difference between US and Cdn tax rates.

You can't be a permanent president in both places...once you move to the US as a resident you are no longer entitled to Canadian healthcare

If you declared yourself as a resident of another country (eg by filing taxes as a Canadian resident), you automatically lose your residency in the US.

If you are not physically present in the Province for 6 months of the year (with some exceptions such as overseas students, etc.), you also lose your provincial health insurance benefits - as some Snow Birds have discovered to their dismay - even if you are still a Canadian 'resident'.

You have to be a Canadian resident physically resident in the country for 6 months of the year in order to continue receiving medical benefits from the Canadian health system.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. You will cause yourself a heap of totally unnecessary trouble if you try. If keeping Canadian health care is that important, then why not sponsor your partner to immigrate to Canada and cross over daily to the US to work?
