My hubby had his interview yesterday at Lagos Nigeria his visa was approved!!! Thank God. He was informed by the guy that interviewed him that there is another fee of $165 that he has to pay. Does anyone know we're he makes this payment at? And if he makes this payment before coming to the states? Thank you for any info it's much appreciated...

hello,congrats....i feel your happiness through to here .If you are a K1 you are not to pay this fee.

"Exemptions

Children who enter the United States under the Orphan or Hague adoption programs, Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants, returning residents (SB-1s), and those issued K visas, are the only categories exempt from paying the fee."

K-1 visa entrants do NOT pay that fee. That is an immigrant visa fee for the green card. A K-1 is a non-immigrant visa. A K-1 will not get a green card until they adjust status and their fee for that is $1070.

Thank u :) same to u also... And just so u kno, theres ppl here that will advise u to not call him ur husband or hubby during this process... I use the same term however their advice is spot on!! Immigration, especially embassies in high fraud countries search public forums.. Its not safe due to the amount of ppl that break the laws & file a K-1 instead of a spousal visa cuz the wait times shorter but they r actually married.. So just sum friendly advice, keep that type of thing private, and do not send chats to interview or any other communication refering to eachother as a spouse... Make sure at the interview hes not in the habit of calling u his wife, they WILL try n trip him up by saying "your wife" during interview n he needs to quickly correct the CO & say ur his fiance :) dont want any denials... U can prove ur married like if sumones married but how do u prove ur not? If they suspect it.... U cant! So better to b safe :) hope this helps

FYI people have been turned away at POE because they have been found or thought to be married already while entering on a K1. I suggest that you refrain from calling your fiance a husband and you his wife until such a time as you are together in the USA. Your choice.
