My medical result is valid until March 24, 2014 so I should be in the US by then or else I will re-do it and pay another fee.

I shared this info with my hubby. Might advice him to get medical done when we get CC but before we get the IL. Thank you for sharing! :)

But wait! Doesn't SLEC forward your results to the Embassy directly? Or part of your results... Are they gonna wait till you have an interview? Or send it & the Embassy will hold it?

Yes you can. I did my medical in advance too. Just keep in mind that the medical result is only valid for 6 MONTHS. wink.png

Congrats on your medical results.

I viewed the online registration and I'd like to ask if it gave you the option to choose the date of the examination after you fill up the form?

I was planning to have ours on the sem break if its possible or do they give you the schedule?

SLEC is on a first come, first serve basis. No need to schedule an appointment. You can go there anytime you wish to.

SLEC will forward the medical results to the embassy. They will only give you a copy of the vaccine chart and the xray dvd.

I have a question about the Medical exam - XRays are typically contraindicated for females who are pregnant, for TB I think there is a skin test they can do esp in Pregnant women called the Tines test before they require a chest X ray. Does anyone know anything about Pregnancy and going through the Medical exam?

You should contact the medical facility in your country, as it may be country specific.

For Philippines, TST is only for applicants 2-14 years old:

MEDICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Physical Examination - Required for all applicants, regardless of age
  • Tuberculin Skin Test - Required for applicants 2-14 years of age
  • Chest X-ray (CXR) - Required for all adult applicants aged 15 and above, or children who had exposure to TB Cases or history of TB disease
  • Syphilis Test - Required for applicants 15 years old and above
  • Pregnancy Test - For women of child-bearing age (15 to 40 years old)

For pregnant women:

All visa applicants 15 years old and above, male or female, are required to have chest x-ray to immigrate. Pregnant women will have proper shielding as a precautionary measure of radiation hazards. Pregnant applicants may have an option to defer medical examination including chest x-ray until delivery.

For our country, Philippines, I'm 100% sure the medical is only valid within 6 months. The validity becomes shorter if the applicant is subjected to undergo the sputum exam because the 2 month sputum culture is already included in the 6 month counting, making their medical & visa validity just around 4 months.
