Hi guys. I know this question has probably already been asked already. But I'm responding to my AOS checklist and I want to ensure we have it right this time. My husband's income wasn't enough so we have a joint sponsor. My joint sponsor files joint tax returns with his wife so she has filled out form i-864 a. What figure should we put as there gross income in form i-864 and i-864a? Their individual income from their w2, or joint income from tax return. Thanks in advance for your help.

Any help guys?

If they ordered tax transcripts from IRS for 3 previous years, the gross income can be found in those transcripts. It's a combined income of your co-sponsor and his or her spouse. Only if they used form 1040A or 1040 when they filed their tax returns. If they used form 1040EZ, they need to put the adjusted gross income as opposed to total gross income.

However, for their individual current income, refer to their W2's and include their W2's to show each individual income. Hope this helps!

Also, don't forget to remind your husband to fill up I-864 even his income is not sufficient to meet the poverty requirements.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)
