after nvc received our aos and civil docs, how many days before cc or checklist? thank u:)

normally NVC people says "wait 20 business days for the review" but my AOS docs were put on review by NVC Dec.10 and I got the AOS checklist Dec 24. My IV docs were received by NVC Dec5 and I got the IV/DS260 checklist Dec 31. NVC received the AOS checklist response Jan.8 and then I received the CC letter Feb.5.

If you check other members timeline some even got quicker review..... smile.png

Good luck!

Hi,

Does anyone have experience with filling out form for $165 immigrant visa fee prior to departing?

I was trying to do for my wife and wondering if the maiden name used for visa application should be used on the form or my wife should use my last name now. The reason i'm asking is because i'm not sure if that will be the name they will use for green card printing or not, as we will like for her to change to my last name.

Thanks for your answer.

Hi! I used my maiden name because it's the one on my passport and lately that's the one embassy has been using for me (even if I started with my married name when I applied). I think the maiden name is okay for now. Not sure what will be printed on my green card though... I also prefer my married name. Hopefully they can update it in the future. :)

Ok thanks. Can it be changed at the point of entry as to what you want on your green card? I know this to be possible before this payment policy prior to coming in.

Hubby said that upon point of entry yes this is possible. They give you a form asking for you name, signature etc that you want to appear on your green card. He said that this stuff will be mentioned in the predeparture orientation. I hope it's still the same process though. :)

So you did fill the elis form online with your maiden name and have you received your green card yet?

To me it seems the online form will be used for the green card printing and it will require extra time and money to change name from maiden to husband. That's not good.

I filled the Elis form in in my married name - still waiting for my SS# and my green card.

However after 3 weeks we can go to get a SS# at the SS Office. So this week we are off to do just that.

Sorry can't help you on name changes .

Hi

Hope someone can help with my query.

my partner's case is complete with the NVC and we await the Interview Letter, however, I was just checking on CEAC and there seems to be an error on the site, so cannot get an update. Additional checks on London's US Embassy site (where partner is to have interview) seems to imply that the embassy will not schedule interview dates until medical has been completed.

http://london.usembassy.gov/status_check.html

However my understanding and what is stated on the State.Gov website for the visa process, states that NVC will work with embassy to schedule and interview, once letter received, you must complete medical before interview date.

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview.html

The latter is my expectation, please someone tell me I'm getting confused and all we need to do is wait for the Interview Letter and not schedule a medical before we can even get a letter?

Confused.
