Maybe that's what he wrote on the application form as the purpose why he applied for the NBI clearance....and if what he have is the personal copy and the other half was already sent to the NVC.....I think its OK. Actually, when my hubby went for his interview, he brought with him a new NBI clearance (the one we sent to NVC already expired while waiting for his interview sched) but he said Embassy people didn't bother asking about it.

You need to schedule for fingerprinting.

Quoting from the New Delhi consulate web page. "Next, go to http://www.ustraveldocs.com and follow the instructions to log in and to schedule an

appointment to have your photograph and fingerprints taken at any of the five Visa Application Centers (VAC) in
India. Each applicant is required to appear at the VAC prior to the consular appointment date. Any
applicant that does not appear at the VAC prior to the consular appointment date will have their interview
rescheduled for a later date. "

You need to schedule an appointment at OFC center and finished your fingerprinting before you go to the interview at the consulate . See the link below.

http://photos.state.gov/libraries/india/521916/IV%20Pkt%20new%20new/IV%20PKT%204%20new%20new.pdf

To set up an appointment at OFC center.

1) Create a profile in this link. https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/SiteRegister?country=India&language=en_US

2) After you create, log in and then schedule the appointment for Fingerprinting and Photo. You need to do that before you go for the interview.
