Hello everyone

My pd is August 08 2012, under f2a catagory. My I 130 got approved on August 06 2013. My question is how long does it take NVC to contact me.. Will I be able to take advantage of this 'current' situation?

For recently approved cases, you may want to post here for the NVC process: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/423515-nvc-process/page-74

To answer your query, you won't be able to take advantage of the "Current" situation because you are not yet case completed. F2A will retrogress come Oct VB so everything will depend on the new cut-off priority date that will be shown there.

For those who doesn't believe that the approximate waiting time for F2A is 2-3 years, check the Visa Bulletin archives first: http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1770.html

That's the NORMAL processing time before they made F2A "current". Some 2012 filers got their visa this year because they were part of those lucky random approvals, where majority of 2012 filers are still in the NVC stage as of now.

So instead of ranting, concentrate on collecting your civil documents and tell your petitioners to make the Affidavit of Support NOW, to be ahead of this game.

I can send the DS-230 before the AOS?

After you have paid the IV fee ($230) and you have the cover sheet, you can send the DS230 and civil documents.

The DS230 has nothing to do with the AOS fee and AOS documents.

I think what some people are forgetting/failing to realize is one's priority date AS WELL AS where you were born go hand in hand. No country will get more than 7% of the allotted number of visas.

So it doesn't necessarily mean that because you were petitioned for first means you will get ure immigrant visa before someone who got in line after you.

Someone with a 2012 priority date is probably from a country that hasn't "capped out" for fiscal year 2013, so with the visa bulletin being current, they were able to be processed all the way through rather than being "lucky". ~~~

Despite the "wrong spelling" as as someone with wrong spelling mentioned on this thread, we understand your message very well.

I hope you get your IL sooner as you are in F2A category. Compared with those under F2B, they still have a long way to go.
