The DS260 will be available after you have paid the IV fee, and status in the ceac is PAID.

Atleast that's what happened in my case.

Hi! Visa got approved today! smile.png Just want to share my interview experience!

*Stayed at Bayview Park Hotel overnight so it would be easy to make it to the interview this morning and I'd have a place to leave ALL of my gadgets/electronic devices (embassy across the street!). They allow late checkout till 1 PM free of charge. Every hour beyond is an additional 200 PHP.

1) Got to the Manila Embassy at about 5:30 AM and lined up in the 6:15 AM line.

2) Line started moving at about 6 AM and my interview letter and passport were checked. I was also given a 2GO shipping form to fill out for later. Make sure you don't have water or any electronic devices (phones, tabs, laptops, flash drives etc) on you. They will NOT let you in unless you throw them away or leave them outside with someone you're maybe with.

2) Let in and given a queuing number at about 6:30 AM. Numbers aren't in order, so you have to watch the numbers being flashed to know when it's your turn. Made me sooo sleepy just staring at the numbers hehe.

3) Queuing number flashed me to the Fingerprinting window #42 at about 8:30 AM. Quick and easy - just a few questions confirming name and birthday then fingers placed on the machine.

4) Queuing number flashed me to window #51 at about 10 AM. A Filipino interviewer asked me a long list of questions verifying things filled out in the application form that maybe lasted 5 min. She asked for an original copy of my joint sponsor AOS - For some reason they didn't have the one we submitted for the checklist. This was the only thing she asked me for. The interviewer was firm but pleasant. The other windows weren't as nice - from what I could overhear! Others were quite intimidating. It's best that you just answer confidently and straightforward here. Know really well what you put in your forms. smile.png

5) Queuing number flashed me to window #60 at about 11 AM. An American consul asked me a few questions that lasted maybe 3 min. She was firm and not exactly friendly. She kept a very straight face and smiled just once haha. (Baliktad ang experience ko - usually mas-nice ang American kaysa sa Filipino interviewer. tongue.png)

*Asked me to recite oath.

*Asked for my name and the name of the petitioner.

*Asked if my husband and joint sponsor live in the same house.

*Asked when we met and how long we'd been together.

*Asked when we got married.

*Asked my husband's occupation.

*Asked what I plan to do for work.

*Asked where we will live.

*Asked to see photos of me and my husband.

6) Called to window #73 (number or name announced just once - so listen very carefully) at 11:30 AM where they confirmed everything was done and my visa would be delivered.

7) Immediately after I went to window #69 to submit and confirm the 2GO shipping form they had given me upon arrival.

All done! My CEAC already shows that my visa status is "Issued."

Good luck and God bless to everyone still in the petition process! All will be well, so no need to worry! biggrin.png

Okay. So DS 260 is after IV Fee not after AOS? I thought i can fill up the form ahead. Hehe. Do i have to print it or no need? I just have to submmit an online form for DS 260? Thanks :)

Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions about getting an F2a visa. My fiancee is a US green card holder (or lawful permanent resident if you prefer that). We got engaged just last december 2013. I came back home Jan 2014 since I just have a tourist visa. We've talked about it and considered getting married there in the US this year so that she could petition for me asap. Would that be legal? Is that the best legal move we can do? How long does it usually take for a petition to get approved? I would appreciate any answer.

Thank you!

I try to answer your questions but I'm no expert.

Would that be legal?

Yes that's legal.

Is that the best legal move we can do?

I think that's the only way since she is a GC holder. You have to get married otherwise she can't even apply for you.

How long does it usually take for a petition to get approved?

Normally, it takes between 6-10 months for USCIS to approve the case and send it to NVC. But you need to send too many documents to prove your relationship e.g. photo of you together, a joint bank account, a joint rental contract, common property and stuff like that. Be meticulous because if the USCIS rejects you, then you have to wait another 6-10 months.

can we do it like within a week after the wedding?

You need to send your marriage certificate accompanied by its translation if not in English. So it doesn't really matter how early you send it. Send it immediately BUT there is one thing that I can recall now.

At the time, we called them and we asked something similar and the only thing they said was that "Your marriage should be consummated" rofl.gif . Seriously. I'm gonna refer you to Wikipedia Consummation to read for yourself. But this is normally asked to avoid any Proxy marriage. So if you guys are getting married where you are both present and spend some time together afterward, then there should be no problem at all.

It's just a matter of days at the end. Good luck.
