Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are getting our paperwork ready for our K-1 Visa :) I was wondering if anyone could tell me how they assembled their packet. Did you use a ACCO binder? Are paperclips still okay to use? If anyone has any advice from what you used, we would greatly appreciate any and all help. Thanks so much!!

And from uscis.gov:

In preparing your packet, please take note of the following:
  • Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled.
  • Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.
  • The use of tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. The tabs should be placed on the bottom and not the side for ease in filing.
  • Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.
  • Avoid submitting originals unless specifically required. Avoid submitting oversized documentation when possible.

I made sure to staple related documents and put clips around the entire packet so they could easily examine each document and not lose pages, see which were together, etc.

Good luck on your application! It's definitely a process :)

Thank you to all that replied. I googled ACCO binder and they look like they would be difficult to take apart when they disassemble our paperwork. Maybe the ACCO binder clips would be a better option. Thanks again :) It is a very exciting time! I want to make sure we are doing everything correctly.

When my packet was returned to me due a mistake, they had disassembled all the things I had done, including trying to separate things with color 8.5" by 11" sheets of paper. I returned it with the photos in a baggie and one binder clip.
