  1. 1. I have a gun on my person. Am I looking for trouble?

    • Yes. You cannot carry a gun unless you are looking for trouble.
    • No. You can carry a gun and go about your everyday business.
    • Maybe. You might do more vigilante style profiling than normal.

Unreal. There are PLENTY of non-violent men in the world who treat women with respect. Violence is a CHOICE that the society enables men to make. Why are we asked to take it for granted that some men choose violence? Why is it so unreasonable to ask, or in fact DEMAND that THESE MEN change, instead of focusing on trying to find coping mechanisms for the women victims? Men are NOT inherently violent towards women. If that were the case, ALL women would be raped and battered. Hello?!?

Hmm, I think there are more complicated factors at work than that some men just choose to be abusive. It is true however that there are too many stereotypes that increase unrealistic views of men and women, their relationships and the way we should treat each other.

Wow, that was an in depth, convincing study.

not a thing about whether they were engaged in legal activity or not. for all i know, it could have been a bunch of drug dealers in the study.

As an alternative to what? Clearly removing most guns from most homes would increase everyone's safety not least the most at risk groups which are under 24's and women. However, there is no miracle cure for domestic violence or rape.

so instead of allowing an equalizer that could prevent that act, we'll put them at the mercy of someone stronger. brilliant!

Really, rinse repeat? Women in vulnerable situations are not rendered 'equal' by thrusting a gun in their hands, how can that possibly be misconstrued as my trying to make a bad situation worse?

There are complicated factors in the background to be sure, but actually committing acts of violence comes down to a choice. It's usually a myth that some men "just can't control their anger" and "lash out". Usually they conveniently lash out in private, behind closed doors, with no witnesses. That's not "uncontrolled" anger, it's very controlled- thus by choice.

Again, where is the overwhelming evidence?

Again, asked, answered. Go check it out or believe the ####### you peddle, not my problem.

well taking away any chance of defending themselves sure isn't making a bad situation better.

I get that at the point the violence occurs it is very, very controlled but I don't believe that most men who become abusers choose to become abusers. There are many contributory factors, too many to be able to predict who will and will not end up an abuser sadly :(

Zero overwhelming evidence has been provided. You provided one lame link and a few others provided links that offer no proof at all. You believe the ####### you peddle, I'll believe mine. This is America, home of 300,000,000 million guns and counting that aren't going to be taken away.

Not thrusting a gun in the hands of a women in a vulnerable situation is not taking away any chance they have or defending themselves, no matter how many times you say the same thing it doesn't make it true. Disprove the data I have provided links to that overwhelmingly proves that women and children who live in homes where guns are kept are more likely to end up injured or killed by that same gun than it being used to defend those women and children and the discussion can move on, until then...

One lame link? OK, you provided zero links to zero evidence of anything. I do not want any guns to be taken away from anyone, I am not a believer in legislating this type of decision making, but it would be good if those who choose to have guns in their homes choose to do so because they understand the risks rather than because they 'feel' that it's an answer to a problem they haven't really bothered to think about seriously. Do you really, honestly believe that someone who has a gun in the home 'just in case' is making a decision that will have a positive outcome?
