My fiance had her medical two days ago, and was administered all 4 shots the same day - MMR, Tetanus, Flu, and Chicken Pox. Two on each arm.

Since then one arm has hurt quite bad, which I understand is quite normal, but the worrying thing is her feeling of sleepiness and is now just starting to get the chills, indicating she is feeling sick. Is this normal? Can others who got all 4 shots like that attest to how they felt in the coming days afterwards?

It is normal for a client to experience mild fever, soreness and pain in the site..Is she taking any meds like pain reliever and other meds that triggers her being sleepy?..Maybe she is just catching up her sleep from waking up early for the medical..She should get some otc for her chills..

No need to submit to a doctor since everybody felt that after the vaccines like MMR and Tdap..It can go away without taking any meds or taking OTC drugs..

It's normal to be sick or feel sick..I had the same 4 shots...two on each arm...both arms feel weak as if I some of the strength from them were gone and the feeling of slight fatigue was there...i shook it off after resting well and eating well a day after...but then again it mAybe because im a guy with high tolerance to pain and doesn't sick that easy.

That is the reaction of the body to the vaccines we received. I had 3 shots, one hurts really bad until now (my medical was july 29).

After giving us shots, the nurse handed us a small paper telling us the different feelings one can have 30 minutes after the shots.

And yes, i became irritated after the shots. On my way to the LRT station, i also feel weak and sore. While at the Bus station going north, fever attacked me, i am also feeling dizzy and etceteras (those feelings that i can't explain).

I remember, i was advised by the nurse at St. Luke's that if certain things like these happen, i just need to take paracetamol. Which i didn't do. I believe i just needed rest. A vacation indeed. Yebaaah

As everyone has said the reaction is normal.

TDaP can cause ache/mild to moderate swelling in the injected arm, especially if the person has never had a TDap or Tetanus immunization before. It seems that if you've had one before the reaction is milder.

A slight fever, fatigue, mild headache is common and usually goes away within a day, though I've seen the TDaP reaction linger for several days. (pain/swelling/redness in injected arm)

Like many medicines and medical procedures, side effects may occur following vaccination. They vary from vaccine to vaccine. The most common side effects may occur where the shot was given, such as pain, redness or swelling. Other common side effects are fever, headache, nausea, muscle aches and tiredness. Though uncommon, there are also some more serious side effects that can occur, such as allergic reactions to vaccines that would require immediate medical attention. If she experiences a side effect related to one of the vaccine, please contact her health care professional. Be sure she gets rest and she is drinking fluids such as Powerade or Gatorade.

What you are describing is not uncommon for those who receive a patheia of inoculations during their SLEC medical exams.

We wish her the best and speedy recover.

My fiancée had the same reaction

Is it required to do a follow up for tdap once in the US? I know on her immunization sheet it says that she got it done, but has a check under Insuficient time interval. Same for Influenza.

Wow glad to read this topic. I didnt know that there will be side effects after having shots. I am currently employed at Starbucks. I am planning to make a 2days absent for my 2 days medical this aug 8-9 and be back at work at aug 10. Seems like i wont be able to work right after getting my medical. Coz my work wasnt easy at all, not an officework like any others. You guys think I should extend my leave of absence? For how any days? Im worried that I'll feel weak.
