So last night i got the confirmation text/email that they received my applications for AOS/EAD/AP.

I checked the USCIS website and the EAD and AP application are both in initial review.

However my AOS application is still in acceptance and here is what it says:

Acceptance

On July 30, 2013, your fingerprint fee was accepted and we have mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. Your case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During the acceptance step USCIS reviews newly received applications and petitions to ensure that they are properly filed (i.e. signed by the applicant, appropriate fees, etc.) USCIS issues a receipt number for the application or petition, and sends a receipt notice to the applicant or petitioner.

Applications and petitions that are not properly filed are rejected with an explanation of why the application is rejected and the corrective action needed. Rejected applications or petitions do not retain their filing date.

The acceptance step is typically completed within 2 business days of when the application is received. With mail time it may take several weeks for you to get the receipt or rejection notice in the mail. If you do not receive your notice within 30 days of mailing your application, please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

When is it going to move to initial review? Is it after they cash the check?

Also my three application have an MSC receipt number does that mean that all three applications will be processed by NBC? I thought EAD and AP were processed at chicago office.

Ours in still inacceptance since April 22 but she already received her EAD/AP combo card (6/21/2013). The SSN has now become problematic because USCIS had not entered her into the database reference by SSN. We've been to SSN twice (30 days apart) and still nothing. Frustrating part is that nobody can direct us to the office/department/person who will take responsibility, and forget about trying to resolve it over the phone.

Is there a reason why it doesn't go to initial review?

Or do they change it after they decide if we will have an interview or not or maybe after the biometrics are taken?

I know uscis case status is far from being reliable but this is confusing here.

My wife's priority date is August 27, 2012 and her AOS is still in acceptance mode. Be prepared for a long drawn out process with no change on their website.

This is exactly how it is. At least with the K1 Visa, you had an idea where it was. For the AOS, you're pretty blind, and still have a tremendous wait. Hope for an interview - they seem to be moved much quicker!

Hi Tom & Stacy,

I'm reading your AOS timeline and it shows that you received your AP 5 months after you submitted your application.... Did you file the AP together w/your i485 application or at a later date? i thought AP usually just takes 30-90 days for approval?! I'm worried because we submitted an AP application since my husband needs to travel this Dec and our i485 is still pending, now going into our 9th month of waiting!!! We originally did not apply for AP since we thought he would get his GC by now!

Posted

Speshulk, don't worry! We didn't file for AP with our AOS. We were dumb and listened to our lawyer who said we didn't need it. I wasn't planning to go back to Canada during the AOS wait and was told I could apply for the emergency AP if something awful was to happen to a family member etc. After reading more info on Visajourney, I realized I made a mistake and went ahead and sent in the AP application along with a copy of my NOA1 from AOS. I got my AP approved less than 3 weeks later! I guess it was because my NOA1 proved I was already waiting for AOS.

Most people are approved for AP before 3 months is up. If you do it like we did, I suspect you'll have it approved and in the mail in less than a month!

Contact your Congressman or Senator's Office and have all the information they may need and the steps that you have taken so they can do an inquiry for you. They will not get the run around we receive from NBC. August 27 will be one year since USCIS accepted my wife's AOS petition. Good luck.
