Update:

On September 18, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Yay!!!!! I am excited.... I guess they are taking a little longer at TSC in issuing this notification for people who filed in August... I have seen lots of VJers that get that message a day or two after USCIS receives their application.....

That's great! Process is moving right along. Personally I feel that waiting for any type of notification from USCIS is the hardest thing I have done in my life. I literally log in daily to their website to see if the status of the application has changed. I even try my hardest to not log in sometimes but I just can't do it and end up on their website checking and feeling a bit of disappointment when I see everything is the same.

what message do you get??? that's weird... it should work unless it is taking a little bit of time to update.... I have not had that experience.... by the way, please update your timeline....

I have seen people that gives them an error message... also, you can create an account online and put in your case number and maybe that way it works?

getting very disappointed at the uscis. Received my NAO2 on 8/22/13 and still the NVC hasnt received my packet. They say it can take up to 8 weeks but according to VJ timelines vermont and texas are receiving theirs within 10-14 days. ugh come on California....mail my stuff to the NVC already!! Starting to wonder if they are slow becuase of the same sex filing or are they just that slow. I just want my case number so that my mind will be at ease that we as a community finally do get a chance to be with our loved ones on American soil.

Yeah, it was great to get a quick NOA2, but looks like now it's just backed up at the next step.

I've been reading on here that everyone is experiencing the delay, so I doubt it's specific to same sex couples. We are just a tiny part of millions of petitions in a very very busy system. :-)

it is the system... you got thru the biggest delay... from now on it is just a few weeks or couple of months... some people´s cases get sent to NVC immediately, others get sent a little later on.... it might already be at NVC, but they just have not input it in the system yet... you never know... almost there... lots of us that are not even at the approval stage... haha...

lucky you!!! it was approved super fast... what I am seeing is a pattern that certain countries get an approval faster than others.. like Australia and England get approved within one month or two (majority)...

People from TSC might be receiving their cases within 10-14 days, but their cases are taking between 4-5 months to be processed... your case was processed very well under the average time so you are still in time for the rest of the process... your entire process will probably be completed and other people´s cases that were sent around the same date you sent yours will still be pending.... so no worries.. it is not the same sex thing... it is just a delay... just keep tracking it and call NVC every week haha...

Thanks for reminding me to see the bright side. I call a couple times a week lol. I can feel it though..............this week is the week!!! My fiance is still waiting for the NBI from manila to get here and she is getting her vaccinations on Wednesday so maybe we were supposed to have a delay so we can make sure we have every i dotted and t crossed before we fax packet 3 back to the consulate.

Hello guys!

Long time lurker, new member, and first time poster here. I have questions regarding my same sex adjustment of status case -- please don't get mad if I posted at wrong thread but I couldn't find a more appropriate one to post at.

Here's my story. I've been in a relationship with my partner since 2007. We are both "closeted" so we kept our relationship in private. None of our family members and friends know. Because of the understandable non-traditional nature of our relationship we tried and kept our relationship as "downlow" as we could. He, a natural born US citizen, lives in the east coast, and I, on the other hand, on an expired H4 visa (and no criminal background and not in deportation proceeding) lives in the west coast. Our geographical distance worked to our advantage as it made our relationship easy to hide. For 6 years, either of us visit/fly to see each other for up to a week or more, about every 2 months. In some cases 3-5 weeks apart. We made it a point to see each other as often as we could and we've been to about a dozen trips just the two of us together -- Hawaii, Miami, Chicago, etc.

Also for the past 6 years, we talk on the phone almost everyday -- from about 10mins to more than 1 hour each time. When DOMA was struck down we both decided to get civilly married in private: just us two and a commissioned employee at a city hall in California. Now we are in the process of gathering evidence for adjustment of status.

Here's all the things we have:

Airline tickets to see each other

Hotel/car reservations for our trips

Years of phone records

Photographs of just him and me from our different trips

Photographs from a couple concert events we went to together

Due to the nature of our relationship, neither of us have photos with either of our families. We know each other's immediate family members by name but he never really met my family aside from "hellos" when he come to pick me up at the house. I haven't met his family at all.

Also because we live apart we don't have joint bills and bank accounts and co-mingled funds. We both plan to live together in the future and share bills and have them under each other's name -- but that probably won't happen anytime soon as I plan to go back to school here in the west coast once I get my paperworks done -- and he cannot leave his job in the east coast at this point.

So with this situation, what's our chance of being successful in the immigration AOS process?

Any insights will be appreciated.

Thank you friends! :)

I think these situations happen all the time even with heterosexual couples and USCIS has to understand that both of you are consenting adults. I know heterosexual couples that stay away from one side of the family because of "issues", and this should not make us any different from them. It is not a requirement to send pics with partner's family. I have read forums where during the interview they might ask for mom's, dad's name and date of birth but not something you might get denied for simply because you don't know them. I hope someone familiar with this situation will come in and reply to give you ease of mind. I know as we enter this process our minds are filled with doubts and anxiety but we have to have faith that everything will turn out fine.

How exciting to be apart of our History as the first same sex couples to be able to bring our partners over to the America. I really appreicate all the great advice posted here. Gabriele and I just received our NOA1 on September 24th, and its in route to CSC. I live in San Diego, and Gabriele is an Italian living in London. I do love my trips to visit him in London..but we both know that sometime in 2014 we will be together.

Is it true that during this visa process, he should not re enter the States?

I did read today in the USA Today that Visa applications will not be affected by the potential shutdown, since we all paid our visa processing charge with our application, and the USCIS is funded by our fees.

Best of luck to everyone.
