HI I am just curious about ur application. Coz we have the same situation, My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years now and we are working legally in the same country which is Thailand, Coz we want to stay together in one place and we dont wanna be separated anymore. So we decided to work in thailand and I have a philippine passport. I just want some help how to get started on K1 visa if its possible to send my USC boyfriend our K1 visa though we are in thailand? We are living in together too. I am looking forward to your quick response.

thanks

Hi - if you're asking whether it's possible for you and your partner to be in Thailand and apply for the K-1 visa, then yes! The USC can be either in the USA or overseas with their partner. If your partner is overseas, though, then he will need to submit some additional info later on to the Consulate, to satisfy them that he is setting up a home (what they call "domicile") in America. For example, I submitted an offer of employment from the USA, a lease agreement for a rental condo in the USA, as well as quotes from a relocation company to ship goods to the USA. It also helps if the USC has a US drivers license still.

If you were asking for some other info, feel free to let me know! :)

And good luck!

Sure, you're welcome! It would be good for your partner to have a current USA DL, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary. They understand that some USCs stay overseas to be with their partners and need some time to relocate back home. It's more important to have some sort of place to live (yes, using the parents house is fine, they also understand people may need to stay with family for a while), as well as some sort of job lined up. Your partner will need to show enough income and recent income tax forms/transcripts to prove he has ability to support. Be sure to read through the K-1 guides on this website, just look for the "Guides" in the blue menu bar near the top of this page. As for car, again, it's not necessary, but if he can get a copy of the registration that is current and has his name, it certainly helps. He will need to submit paperwork with yours to the Consulate, again available on the guides here.

Finally, you can send the application (I assume you mean the original I-129f) to the lockbox any way you like!

Good luck!

Hello from London, visiting my fiancé! My understanding is that you only need to prove that you have met at least once within the last two years. You do not have to have been together for two years.

Now watch out for that CEAC website giving you precious info on when it leaves the NVC.

You may be having your interview before hours as we're stuck in the post-holiday season!

Yes you can be approved. You just have to prove you met within 2 years of filing the petition. You can file now. I hope you kept plane stubs, receipts, etc.

(Hindi importante gaano katagal kayo nag-uusap at magkakilala o gano katagal na relasyon nyo, basta nagkita kayo in person bago magfile)

Believe me, I will be watching that website on a daily basis!

As for beating you to the interview I doubt that, isn't yours already scheduled?

We are trying to figure when is the earliest we should schedule the medical. Getting the feeling we should schedule it as soon as the status changes to "In Transit."

Had a great time in London, but back in NY now. At least my fiance will be here for the Holidays soon, so it's not so bad.

We are a bit worried what questions he will get at Newark Airport, where officers seem to ask more. He will be bringing proof of his continued job, his mortgage, etc.
