I waited exactly 11 days (we called on the 19th).

No calls before that, and as others have suggested, I didn't call NVC, I called DoS, as it is indeed much faster. All we needed to know was if the petition had reached the NVC and what the case number was, and they can tell you that.

Everything else we learned from the CEAC website, and DHL (as soon as the petition was shipped!).

You were interviewed as a couple?

No, but I (the petitioner) was present at the consulate and the interview area is an open room (you can hear everyone's interviews). I was allowed to stand nearby for moral support but not participate. This was how the other interviews went too.

This review of Naples is, I think, the best one I've read in terms of accuracy, etc:

Really happy to see that you all have kept this forum alive. Congratulations on the interview approvals!!! I have had to put off scheduling the interview appointment a bit and waiting for Jan 2014 dates to be posted. I don't have time off from work and I really want to be with my fiancee the day of the interview. I've read online and that the Cd. Juarez embassy does not allow anyone else in but the beneficiary but I still want to be outside waiting for her. Again CONGRATULATIONS on all of the awesome approvals and continue to keep this forum alive!

we got our case number from NVC last Wednesday, I'm the beneficiary I'm currently temporarily residing in Turkey but our lawyer specified that the petition be sent to Jordan for the interview as i'm a citizen. the NVC told me that it's going to Ankara and told me to email them some info in order to fix this and send it to the right embassy, i called again today to check and they told me it's in administrative processing and it shows no sign of being changed to a different embassy. we're starting to freak out, our lawyer isn't giving us much info (she's giving us the standard NVC replies) what does administrative processing mean at this stage? oh and when i gave the case number and info the lady was referring to me as a she, then i told her I'm a male, she said oh so you're both male? is it same sex? i said yes she said hold on a second let me fix that!

what does the series of numbers above the beneficiary's name indicates in the NOA2?

I believe it's the beneficiary's alien registration number

Thanks for sharing your story! There are a couple other similar threads that have been started earlier, it would be great to have them all combined for one easy-to-reach place to share stories and experiences.

I'm the USC in our relationship, and have been with my fiance for just over 8 years now. We met online and I flew to Malaysia to meet him in 2005. I was living in NZ at the time, and he picked up and joined me soon. As NZ has been way more progressive in immigration law, I was able to sponsor him for a work visa, and then permanent residency there. We stayed long enough for him to become a NZ citizen, and he just recently made the decision to renounce his Malaysian citizenship, since they don't allow dual citizenship.

Currently we are living and working in Australia, but I'm on a temporary work visa, so we've both decided to go for it and have applied for the K-1 as well - our NOA1 is 7/11, so we're waiting like everyone else to see what happens - maybe even sometime in late October! smile.png

It will be interesting to share stories and see how things go - I suspect it will be business as usual, but sometimes I can't help but wonder, "what if we get an adjudicator at USCIS who's really opposed to same-sex couples? Will he/she slow things down or RFE us to death as a form of protest?" Only time will tell!

Good luck to everyone one here, including our heterosexual friends who are in the same boat!

HI I am just curious about ur application. Coz we have the same situation, My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years now and we are working legally in the same country which is Thailand, Coz we want to stay together in one place and we dont wanna be separated anymore. So we decided to work in thailand and I have a philippine passport. I just want some help how to get started on K1 visa if its possible to send my USC boyfriend our K1 visa though we are in thailand? We are living in together too. I am looking forward to your quick response.

thanks
