That's good. Hope you can see your AP also on the EAD card, sometime they may not updated online.

Good Luck. Mine is still in Card Production and don't know when it can be mailed. Looking forward my interview on Nov' 7th.

You should be getting it soon if it's a combo card. Based on other threads i've read and my own situation they typically do 2-day shipping so if they said they mailed the card out on the 10th, it should be there any day now.

Fortunately for you, many others on this thread are going in for interviews before you so hopefully they'll share their experiences and it'll be of some help to you and your family. We've already got one GCer so far so that's good.

Well, all is not lost. When you get your EAD you are legally authorized to work. You can immediately go out and start looking for a job in hopes that the government shutdown ends before your first day of work.

Likewise, while an SSN is universally asked for in order to work, it's legal to work without an SSN. See: http://www.twc.state.tx.us/news/efte/employees_without_ssns.html . It's just not normally done and most companies don't want to hassle with it. Your EAD is a List A document on the I-9 and is the only document you need to legally work in the US. In normal times, employers want you to have a social security number but these aren't normal times and if the shutdown drags on, you may find that your potential employer is ok waiting for that SSN until the government re-opens.

My interview is in two weeks, EAD is still on 'Initial review'.

i received EAD couple days ago that is 10day before my interview... other member got ead before 5days interview .

and my other friend she got ead 1day after interview. ...

so no worried about this ...

Our interview is TOMORROW in SF! We're excited! We have the originals packed and ready to go, along with 400ish photos.

The EAD card is coming in the mail tomorrow as well (UPS tracking)--probably after our interview. We'll share details of our experience soon.

I am already working on L1b visa and have an SSN.

But I think DMV would need a SSN for DL. My DL also expired in the last week of September.

The strange thing... my EAD and L1b extension both got approved on the same day. I am gonna go on Monday to renew my DL.

You do not need a social security number to work in the US. Not just Texas.

It is applicable to any state. The Texas link is just a good explanation of it. There is also a Social Security pdf on it if you do some searching. It talks about working pending receipt of SSN and what your employer needs to do. Legally, an SSN is just a way to pay taxes.

All of this though is up to the employer. Some employers will hassle with the extra paperwork and most will not.

I thought you needed the Social Security Number to get paid. You can start working with an EAD (or with a work visa etc.) but you don't get paid till you get your Social Security number (and then get a fat paycheck after you get your number). I am not a 100% sure about this but this was my experience when I worked while on F1.

Also, my EAD's status updated again to Card sent for Production. I guess they actually start card production after update #2? Anyways, I don't think I will get my EAD before my interview date (which is October 21st).

9/17/2013 - Got an email & Text at 4am Pacific for Interview date (October 21)

9/19/2013 - Got the interview letter in mail.

10/9/2013 - Got emails and texts about EAD and AP going into production.

10/15/2013 - Got another email and text about EAD in production.

10/18/2013 - EAD updated to "Card sent"

10/18/2013 - EAD updated with USPS tracking number (expected delivery on 10/21)

10/21/2013 - EAD/AP Combo card received.

10/21/2013 - Interview day (Los Angeles - review)

10/21/2013 - Another update to the I-485 (Decision - Registered as Permanent Resident)

10/23/2013 - Another text/email for card in production.

10/28/2013 - Card ready to be picked up notification. Later in the day got the tracking number.

10//31/2013 - Received the card today! Yay!

I-751 (Removal of Conditions)

7/22/15 - Documents sent
7/24/15 - NOA1 (Received in mail on 7/29)
8/19/15 - Biometrics done
