May I ask, If you got married in 2011 on a K-1, why have you only now filed to adjust status and employment authorization? Can you stay in the US for 2 years without adjusting status from a K-1?

Long story but yes you can wait the 2 years but i dont advise it. its been tough not been able to work or drive or anything .

If you were in the situation i was in and had no choice to wait , you wont get into trouble for it . It just makes things more difficult.

I also couldnt leave the country either because if i did i wouldnt be aloud back and would have to file for another visa. So i dont recommend it

I'll start to go through the documents for the interview. I'm afraid we don't have that much documents. Even pictures. We basically sit home or spend time together, so we don't have pics together - there is simply no one to get them for us

I actually have the same problem. Hubby is not a picture person. He doesnt want to take pictures so theres not much to show. What documents do you think we need to get just for the interview?

I actually have the same problem. Hubby is not a picture person. He doesnt want to take pictures so theres not much to show. What documents do you think we need to get just for the interview?

That`s what I`m going to take

1. Pics that we have for 3 years, just few pics before marriage and basically 90% of photos that we made after

2. 2 wedding invitation with both our names and our address (we got lucky that 2 our friends got married so we got a lil more evidence :)

3. Statements from the bank. We are going to add me to his bank account next week.

4. Insurance ( I am not sure about it, because he just had interview for another job, so we are waiting to add me to his insurance. If he get a new job - I will join his insurance there, if he stays on his current job - I will join that insurance. But because they can tell us that for example I need to wait till New Year or something - I am not sure if we are going to have it at all)

5. All his financial documents again, new paychecks and new letter from work.

6. Lease or a letter from our landlord that we live together.

7. All that documents that we sent with AOS (birth certificate, marriage certificate bla bla bla)

That`s actually all we are going to have. We've been married for 3 months from now, so I don't think that you can collect tons of papers. We are not rich, so we don't buy stuff for both our names, I don't have a car and etc. I am sure that if they ask us for more - we will send them, but I don`t really worry about it, because I can even tell the officer how many pairs of underwear he has and what color lol.

I don't see any reason to worry about the interview if your marriage is not fake :)

If you don't have many pictures, take whichever you have :) If you have pictures with each other's family in them then that's even better.

People also take things like the bills for the rings/wedding bands, tickets for trips you took together etc.

From what I have read, I understand that they give a lot of importance to intermingling financial assets like bank accounts, credit cards, especially insurance (auto or health) so take statements for those if you have. If you don't now is the time to add yourself to his bank accounts =)

Wedding invitations are also another thing you can take and letters from your friends/landlords stating that you live together and rental agreements maybe.

Thank you for all that information. However, we both decided not to add me in his health insurance yet coz it's so expensive. We thought I'd have my own health insurance when I'll start working. Will that be a problem?

That's a good thing though. Maybe the documents they need is not that important that they trust you'll send it to them without any problems. I think you shouldn't worry much. We all have to be positive in every way. Isn't this exciting? Hehehe. Good luck on your interview! :-)

Yes! Now I can't sleep anymore hahaha

It's 5am here and I am wake like its 10am!

Time to prepare for the interview.

We just don't have the pics of the wedding because we did it at courthouse ASAP. The wedding will be in Brazil next year, but we said the same at our k1 interview. The financial stuff we have everything (joint account, joint lease, dependent at health insurance, beneficiary at his life insurance, dependent in his credit card, family phone plan, etc)

Photos we have a lot of photos from after interview in Brazil to now. Also we will travel to Vegas right before the interview date(that's already planned).

I am so excited!!! :)
