From all the post regarding early walk in biometrics, my understanding is that :

a) You can do it if the ASC allows you ( You have to take chances ) . May be you can call then and check.

b) There is no harm in doing this

c) This may not speed up or slow down your process

d) You may have to wait a longer amount of time in the ASC to do early walk in.

I don't have a car. And it takes 2 hours by bus to go to the ASC I am assigned to.

I will try it if I get a ride.

Thank you! I will try this Wednesday. I read on some other forums that Salt Lake Center does allow it sometimes. If I were in San Diego, I would have totally given you a ride. Good luck!

I'll let you know if I succeed on Wednesday :)

You can try to do an early walkin. It is up to them to allow it or not.

IMO, it doesn't speed up or slow down the process. Try and do a walkin in the afternoon if you do. From what I have read, centers are less crowded in the afternoon.

Will do! Thank you for advice :)

I had my biometrics taken today. Yey! I was in and out in 30 minutes. For those who have not had their biometrics done yet, DO NOT FORGET to bring an ID showing your MARRIED name. Bring your marriage certificate with you. Only ID I have is my passport with my maiden name on it and they still asked me to show an ID with my married name. Good thing I brought my marriage certificate or else they wouldn't have let me take my biometrics. If you have time, it is probably good to get your passports updated. That's what I'll be doing next while I wait for my EAD.

I hope everyone are doing well and let's all hope for a smooth and fast processing. :)

We filed last month (at the end of August), however, we forgot to sign up for the e-mail notification. Can we still sign up for e-mail notification? Or is it too late now? If we can still sign up for e-mail notification, how do we do it? Can we do this online?

When I filed my documents, I filed it under my maiden name coz the USCIS representative told me to follow the name on my ID and the name on your marriage certificate. Anyways I can change it to my married name once I appllied my SSN, thats what they told me. I hope that wont be a problem that I didnt use my married name yet

Anyways I can change it to my married name once I appllied my SSN, thats what they told me. I hope that wont be a problem that I didnt use my married name yet

I opted to use my married name when I filed my applications, just thinking ahead because I don't want to have to go through the hassle of changing the name on my green card, ead, ssn, etc. since I'm planning on using my married name on all my ID's anyway. Also, so I won't have to bring all supporting documents like my marriage certificate every time I fly in and out of the country.

I thought it wouldn't be a problem since I listed my maiden name on the "Other Names Used" part of the application forms and all notices I received from USCIS including the biometrics appointment letter were addressed to my complete name (first name, maiden name, surname). But the receptionist still asked for an ID with my married name. I thought it would be understandable that I won't have a driver's license yet or any state issued ID showing my married name. I am just glad I brought my marriage cert. yesterday.

So yeah, if you used your married name when filing, make sure you get your passport updated with your married name on it. If not, at least bring your marriage certificate as proof.

The person who took my biometrics didn't have any problem with my passport because it did match my maiden name on the application. Strange. Oh well, everything went smoothly after that, so I am happy. Just anxiously waiting for an update of my I-485 status.
