It goes to testing and interview any time after you get your biometrics done. There's no set time limit. The interview is for the Green Card, not for the EAD.

Yesterday we got a case update that we are getting an RFE. No big surprise there. We submitted the AOS package without a medical exam so I assume it is that. The only civil surgeon within a 100 miles is on vacation until this week. I think it turned into a smart thing to do. Hopefully by the time we actually have the RFE in hand, we should have the medical exam completed. It probably won't delay the thing at all.

Some people may question why we just didn't wait, Well here is the reason: My wife's b2 expires on September 20th. We have property in New Mexico and may need to go down there near the end of the month. If so then we'll be dealing with the Border Patrol internal checkpoints. We need to have at least an NOA1 in hand before that happens or else they can detain my wife for overstay. Sending in the AOS early(knowing we'd get an RFE) meant that we had plenty of time to get the NOA1 in hand before going there.

The upshot though of this is that this might only delay the process a week or so. If we had waited to file until the medical exam was done then we would have delayed things at least a month.

Finally got my Biometric Appointment today and it is scheduled on 09/17. Looking ibto maybe I can do walk-in by tuesday, 09/03. Anyone here located within Raleigh area? Is it Ok to do walk-in at Raleigh office?

Im Living in Beckley ... ! and just Got My NOA Hardcopies for EAD , Ap yesterday

Yeah it's turning out to be. We are getting the TB test done today and the medical exam will be finished on Thursday ready to go. She took all of the vaccinations already. We haven't even gotten our RFE in the mail, with luck it will be here by Thursday so we can send in the reply on Thursday with the medical exam. We will be express mailing it so it should be there on Friday and have only delayed the process a week or so.

We have been a few days ahead of you so we will see if this delays us by comparing our timeline to yours.

You can check your receipt numbers daily to see if your status changes but that gets tedious. There is a place on the case status page to sign up for case updates. You can put all your receipt numbers in there and set it up for email and/or text message updates so that when there is an update, you get notified right away.

i didnt get a text for email or status update either. I dont think you do in the case of a Biometrics.

I did an early walk in today at Oakland USCIS. No problems at all! Now time to wait for an update.

The guy at center told me that in one month I should be receiving the letter to interview by mail. I really hope it is true, but I don't think so, people from january still waiting.

a) You can do it if the ASC allows you ( You have to take chances ) . May be you can call then and check.

b) There is no harm in doing this

c) This may not speed up or slow down your process

d) You may have to wait a longer amount of time in the ASC to do early walk in.

I don't have a car. And it takes 2 hours by bus to go to the ASC I am assigned to.

I will try it if I get a ride.

You can try to do an early walkin. It is up to them to allow it or not.

IMO, it doesn't speed up or slow down the process. Try and do a walkin in the afternoon if you do. From what I have read, centers are less crowded in the afternoon.
