Hopefully, I can get some clarification.

My husband was approved for his Conditional LPR status on 7/10/13. We received his GC but noticed that the "Resident Since:" date reflects 6/10/13 and not 7/10/13 (approval date).

We spoke to USCIS and they said we need to file the I-90 providing proof that the error was their fault.

Here are our questions:

1) Is the resident since date that important vs correcting identifying information?

2) Would sending a copy of the NOA2 be sufficient proof that the error was indeed USCIS' fault?

3) Is it really necessary to have his card corrected?

4) Would the NOA2 be sufficient documentation to show his LPR status when applying for jobs, etc. or does he really need the I-551 stamp?

5) Can we go to any office for a stamp or must it be the field office he was approved at?

6) What is the current timeline for I-90s?

The reason why we pose questions #3, #4, and #5 is because the field office is 4 hours away. Dave would have to make an infopass appointment just to get an I-551 stamp to show proof of his status because we have to submit his GC with the application.

We're a bit worried now because I've read that some I-90s have been denied. Also, biometrics appointment letters were allegedly sent and never received, which also denied the application. This in essence caused the WHOLE process to start all over again. I'm hoping that the whole process is just the I-90 application and not the AOS process. EEK!

This has got me more freaked out than the whole AOS process did.

Thanks in advance for any answers and/or advice.

It's a typo apparently. Does you NOA2 say we approved your permant residence on 7/10/2013? If so then that is proof. There is no fee.

For proof of status you need the card or the stamp.

What is the significance of that date?

You need to renew before 6/10/2015 if that is truly the date USCIS has on record. Since you can apply 90 days before that date, I suppose you could leave it until approx April 2015, then you would be okay for either the 6/10 or 7/10 date. Your NOA1 receipt will be a letter that extends status for a year. However the form says "conditional residence expires on ____". What would you put? Not sure it would matter

So fast forward to eligibility for citizenship. Is is 6/10/2016 or 7/10/2016? As long as you don't apply earlier than 90 days before eligibility then you aren't trying to get a benefit early based on a typo.

So I think it is a minor problem and yes, probably should be fixed, but what if you hadn't noticed? As long as you do the subsequent applications with 7/10 as the date, I don't think it would be anything illegal you were doing. If it was a year off, then more of a problem.

Can you call and get them to tell you the date they have on record as your date, just so you know if their records match what they put on the card?
