More selective reading.

I am in favor of both. New laws and enforcing current laws.

Not sure how many other ways I can say it.

You seem to struggle, so I drew you a picture.

But why would we make more laws until we enforce the ones we have now ?

Would be kinda of like passing tough new immigration laws, when our current justice dept will not enforce the ones we have now

what if America looked like your average NRA member, that you can't seem to construct a sentence without calling them a derogatory name

America would be largely middle class, unemployment would be almost non-existent and crime would be rare.

Yet oddly you see this group of people as the problem\

Strange indeed

The NRA as I stated earlier is an organization that lacks any sense of decency. It is an organization that will walk over dead bodies for a profit for it's clientele. It is an organization that lacks any respect for our national institutions - so much so that former President George H. W. Bush felt it warranted to publicly disassociate himself from the NRA. After all, this remains true: Tell me who you associate with and tell you who you are.

Dear Mr. Washington,

I was outraged when, even in the wake of the Oklahoma City tragedy, Mr. Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of N.R.A., defended his attack on federal agents as "jack-booted thugs." To attack

Secret Service agents or A.T.F. people or any government law enforcement people as "wearing Nazi bucket helmets and black storm trooper uniforms" wanting to "attack law abiding citizens" is a vicious slander on good people.

Al Whicher, who served on my [ United States Secret Service ] detail when I was Vice President and President, was killed in Oklahoma City. He was no Nazi. He was a kind man, a loving parent, a man dedicated to serving his country -- and serve it well he did.

In 1993, I attended the wake for A.T.F. agent Steve Willis, another dedicated officer who did his duty. I can assure you that this honorable man, killed by weird cultists, was no Nazi.

John Magaw, who used to head the U.S.S.S. and now heads A.T.F., is one of the most principled, decent men I have ever known. He would be the last to condone the kind of illegal behavior your ugly letter charges. The same is true for the F.B.I.'s able Director Louis Freeh. I appointed Mr. Freeh to the Federal Bench. His integrity and honor are beyond question.

Both John Magaw and Judge Freeh were in office when I was President. They both now serve in the current administration. They both have badges. Neither of them would ever give the government's "go ahead to harass, intimidate, even murder law abiding citizens." (Your words)

I am a gun owner and an avid hunter. Over the years I have agreed with most of N.R.A.'s objectives, particularly your educational and training efforts, and your fundamental stance in favor of owning guns.

However, your broadside against Federal agents deeply offends my own sense of decency and honor; and it offends my concept of service to country. It indirectly slanders a wide array of government law enforcement officials, who are out there, day and night, laying their lives on the line for all of us.

You have not repudiated Mr. LaPierre's unwarranted attack. Therefore, I resign as a Life Member of N.R.A., said resignation to be effective upon your receipt of this letter. Please remove my name from your membership list.

Sincerely,

[ signed ] George Bush

Well, of course the two actions should not happen at the same time. That wouldn't make sense.

Enforce the current ones, then work on new ones.

Some jurisdictions enforce laws that don't exist. Since guns are not citizens, the guns themselves have no Constitutional rights. So, any firearms that do get confiscated, are tagged and thrown into a corner of a secured area, where they collect dust until the rightful owner hires a lawyer, and sues the county or city to get it back.

and just maybe if we enforced the current ones we would not need the new ones.

By george lady , your views are now in line with the NRA

I would send you a complementary membership, but to be honest...Dear lord the amount of spam and snail mail ####### they send you is overwhelming.

I only joined after the latest assault ban non sense. Based on the spam and junk mail alone I might not renew. I own guns but I rarely shot or carry.

I did enjoy putting the NRA sticker on my Prius..It offsets the gay image of that car.

Yes and the citizen has to pay the cost for getting his items back and pay the lawyers even in the cases were the seizure was illegal.

I am sure you are not aware of the cases where agents have seized weapon and ammo and never returned ammo back to the rightful owners even after it was proved the seizure was illegal.

I think it's obvious that the existing laws need to be enforced, there's no doubt about that. It's very obvious that we need new nationwide gun laws to stop the sale of guns to straw buyers and the sale of guns without background checks at gun shows. A good amount of these guns are then imported illegaly into states that have stricter gun laws, sold on the streets and people get killed with them. I also think it's obvious that new laws need to be put in place regarding the responsible storage of weapons so children and other people who shouldn't be getting their hands on these weapons, don't. We here about an innocent child being killed by a gun that was left lying around by it's irresponsible owner almost daily. Also due to the rise in mass shootings by people who are found to be mentally unstable, there need to be laws on the books regarding the mental state of those in close proximity to these weapons so they do not get access.
