Down to 30%, as I posted earlier. The number of gun owners is declining as a percentage of the population, yet the number of guns keeps going up. That tells me America is being held hostage by the NRA and the gun nutters.

What about this?

Of course they are. If their family members were killed by a roof collapse, they would be pushing for stricter building codes.

Just like they did after the Station night club fire 10 years ago that killed 100 people. There was a big push on fire safety, building capacity, etc after that.

Why is it that you are so angry at the NRA and people that have more right leaning views (enough to constantly call them derogatory names), yet the groups, like the NRA, that you attack are by a vast majority law abiding, honest people that just want to work, have a family and be left alone.

I don't have a problem with people that have right leaning views - I have a problem with people that have all but fallen off the right edge. The NRA is an industry advocacy group that - like the seven dwarfs - will walk over dead bodies to promote the products of the industry it represents. I have an issue with organizations that walk over dead bodies for profit. You might be cool with that, I am not. I value life over money.

The Gallup poll is an outlier, as is discussed in the second link you proffered, which is why the NRA is pushing the Gallup numbers. Typical NRA stuff, much like Kleck and Pratt, and yet, you claim you are not affected by the NRA. So, either you are just another NRA sock puppet, or delusional.

Like in the days of alcohol prohibition why don't you just make your own weapons? Actually, that's liberty. What you're practicing is just consumerism.

Your wide open gun law idea only restricts your liberty, because it requires you to spend more and more on protection from those with weapons wanting to harm you. (It's not actually true, but you're buying the idea.)

We should just sell heroin, meth and crack at Walmart. Because by not allowing me to be a junkie you're infringing on my liberty!

Having to register and license something is SO restrictive.

Why do I even bother with getting a passport? It infringes on my LIBERTY!

and prohibition made alcohol go away aright ?

When the general population has no guns that is exactly what will happen, people will put their hands over their heads and do as they are told.

That may or may not be true, but I've never stated that I want all guns removed from the general population. Not sure why all the pro gun folks can't help themselves from making that leap.

Since this is all so easy to solve according to some, why hasn't one politician come forward and said that he/she will work to toughen gun laws and get them off the street? Why hasn't one come forward promising to work toward repealing the Second Amendment? Simple, it would be political suicide. Even the liberals would never run on such an agenda. And since the Republicans and conservatives are all gun lovers, except Patriot of course, they aren't going to propose any such legislation. The first step is to elect a Congress that will change the Constitution. That's the beauty of our government.

They have Spooky, Obama, Biden and a bunch of other politicians just tried to overhaul gun laws, but got shot down. They do try, but the lobbying power of the NRA has proven to be too strong. The majority of Americans are in favor of stricter gun control.

Precisely. And none of that has anything at all to do with efforts to amend the constitution and repeal the second amendment - that's just another paranoid fantasy the NRA is working hard on planting into receptive brains. It's the "they're coming for your guns" paranoia. Amazing how many fools fall for that #######.

Paranoia. For some reason, simply wanting some stricter laws (and for current laws to be enforced more strictly) suddenly means people are going to be coming to their homes and taking away their precious guns. ALL OF THEM!!

They live in a fantasy land.

The same fantasy land that tells them that those guns are going to help them overthrow a government.

Canada has stricter gun laws than the US, yet any law abiding Canadian citizen that wants a gun can get one. The amount of gun deaths per yer in Canada is miniscule compared to the gun deaths in the US. What's so hard to understand?

what if America looked like your average NRA member, that you can't seem to construct a sentence without calling them a derogatory name

America would be largely middle class, unemployment would be almost non-existent and crime would be rare.

Yet oddly you see this group of people as the problem\

Strange indeed

I do believe most pro gun advocates are all in favor of enforcing existing laws.. In fact that is their point. In fact how many times has the exact subject been debated here, with the pro gun people arguing , enforce the existing laws and that more laws will not work, because the one's we have are not being enforced ?

Glad you have come around

Come around? It's what I've been saying all along. See what happens when you actually read what people are saying instead of coming up with your own interpretation and running with it?
