After seeing the preview, I now realize that I was really lucky to avoid getting all my organs stolen during my time in Brazil.

it is funny to see how people like to bash Brazil...

I 've been here for almost 2 months and just the last Saturday some thieves tried to get in our apartment while we were sleeping...

They tried to open the bedroom's window, broke it and then I heard they were trying to come in...

Something like that NEVER happened to me in Brazil in my 31 years of life there

The subject got way off base here, but I will jump in and say violence here in the U.S.A is awful. I agree with Charles, shoot first and ask question latter. I have never lived in Brazil, but I felt safe when I was there. From what I have read and heard, it is no worse then here. However, I am smart enough to know violence can happen anywhere at anytime.

Ro is scared I own a gun but I love my 45 cal. And hope she will learn to love one too. It is just smart business to own a gun here I believe.

i agree - there was not one time when i was in brazil that i felt uncomfortable or threatened in any way. the people there are, in my opinion, much nicer than the usa.

and it's best to be tried by 12 than carried by 6 in the usa.

and i love my .44 mag and .40 cal :innocent:

There are levels of safety down here. I lived 3/4 of my life in a small little city outside São Paulo, and it is so safe that people literally leave their doors unlocked. And here in SP is just a little dangerous if you live in certain neighborhoods. Rio is the exact same way, I lived there for a year and nothing has happened to me.

The media distorts all the facts about Brazil. We have violence, of course, but it is mainly related to poverty. As soon as the government starts working on getting people out of poverty and provide them with good education, the violence would also go away.

But that is only my opinion. Brazil is big and rich in natural resources, we aren't just governed properly.

The media always makes things worse, I agree that poverty and lack of education is the cause of most crimes, don’t hold it to heart that it is just Brazilian Government, it is the case in any country I believe. The Government could do a lot more if they wanted too this is a fact anywhere, and as much as I hate to say it the Government can never do enough either. There are just some people who if given the opportunity would never do what is correct or right. But there are many who I feel only do what they feel they have to do because money is not enough and jobs are not available.

For the record Rey, I love Sao Paulo Brazil. I felt full of energy the 2 times I was there. I am sure I will love Rio too. I just wish I could stay longer.. You live in a beautiful and wonderful country, the people there seem happy, nice and very polite, and I agree with Charles, you do not find that here. Hell Charles what are we doing living here???

I love my country and I love my city, but I have been robbed, twice, since I have moved to Sao Paulo and I still love it.

I don't think I will any safer in NYC to be honest.

But I think that Rio during the night is a little more creepy than SP. And I was having a beer on the beach at night one day with alex in Rio (Totally her idea, I wouldn't be insane to go to the beach with any ammount of money after 10) and we were speaking english to each other (at least I was trying) and then two kids showed up and asked for money, reason why I don't like copacabana so much, and I said I didn't have any. When they realized we weren't speaking portuguese, they started talking to each other plotting to steal our cigarretes and our lighters. Then I said some curse words ("Vai roubar o c* da sua mãe, filho da puta") and they went away.
